I doubt a Battlemech would be using a HUD. Have you ever seen a real HUD?

Well, nevermind that, just watch my twitch video here as it is 100% authentic in relation to your physical movement/position and the glass:

http://www.twitch.tv...stman/c/3244743

go to 13:57 and watch from there

I'm using head tracking with Track IR btw so as I move my head and body through three dimensional space, you'll see me move in relation in the cockpit as it has 6 degrees of freedom.

Needless to say, any movement in the mech would be... bad for watching through the HUD.

HMCS all the way. ;) (which is also in that video)

On phone so cant watch it but will later if I remember this thread.

And your thinking is limited to our era aircraft HUDs. No reason why a HUD could not encompass the whole front glass and doesn't need a metal bracket around it. It could be an Avatar type HUD.

If your vid shows the pilot being buffeted around relative to the HUD then thats even more of an argument to put it in. To make you feel like you're sitting in a cockpit being buffeted around or the view is relative from you sitting in a cockpit, not your pov that of actually being the mech.

I desperately want this to happen. Along with actually using the currently multi-disfunctional displays spread throughout the cockpit.

Why? HUD is on you visor, although I agree about the displays

People keep saying that modern battlemechs simply used a sensor display, if that's the case which {Dezgra} of a designer made the cockpits so bloody visible?

If you wanted to keep your pilot alive you would have him as close to the centre of the mech as possible with no outward indication as to where he/she is.

Neurohelmets in lore only helped with the sense of balance, keeping the mech upright, it never had a projected visor like in a HMCS system IIRC.

Then why do I constantly drown my cockpits in water and why do those damn tree branches cover my instruments?

Because you suck?

PLEASE tell me that you can turn it off.

It would destroy every MWO Video... Cameramechs would be rendered useless

Get your stock footage in now. Or you can use 3PV to record, but that means you need to incorporate the mech you're in.

They'll have a spectator view available soon as well, which will be great for filming.

Battletech has never been about realism or combat effective weapon solutions. Your ideas would be against canon. :D

Well it was in one of the ATD and an interview on NGNG about the spectator view that the devs use to watch battles and people. They also used the same thing in the Launch day tournament to give commentary on the battle. They did say that they would look into bringing it into people's grasp to use, but one of the issues was users using it to give their team the advantage if they were killed. If they found a way to bring it into the game without having people abuse it then they would bring it in. The only way I see them doing that is if they designed a sort of fog-of-war. If you are a spectator, that died on a particular team, you will not be able to see the other team while free-roaming with the camera so you can’t relay info back to your team.
If an enemy mech can’t be targeted then you shouldn’t be able to see it while free-roaming.
Sorry, can't give you any links. they were like.. 6+ months ago, except for the launch event.
