Funny.

PGI said they listened to our feedback on UI2 yet the single most repeated comment about UI2 has been its counter intuitive.

So the only explanation I can come up with is we "players are too stupid to see how brilliant UI2 is." So go for it. Put this disorganized click fest of a UI up and see what happens.

I bet with in hours someone will post "UI2 sucks and I'm quitting." Any takers?

1. After match program returns to home page, but home tab name missing.
2. FPS drop to -10 when moving from Home or Mechlab to Skills Tab.
3. Friends Icon needs to be highlighted, as not very visable.
4. Unable to see loadout or modules for Mech without going into loadout option. Same problem with buying a mech.
5. Buy mech pages do not list if ECM available, but not installed.
6. After getting warning notice of "Your new loadout can not be taken into game" you are unable to drop any other Mech until you switch tab to Home or Skills and back to Mech selection.
7. Can not type any text in pre-match screen.

Suggestions:
When selecting play game, can we tick games we want to take part in, not just select one.
Keyboard shortcuts for Mechlab needed, so as to speed up config and moving between menus.

Trying to patch the test server. Reaches patch 6 then gives me a MD5 Hash of the local file does not match that on the server. Yet if I try to download the latest installer it detects I have already have mech warrior installed and refuses to install,

Won't let me log in. Tells me my account isn't authorized. I thought all accounts created before January were eligible?

EDIT: Not a bug. I was in the wrong time slot! Sorry! Thanks hawk819!

After logging in and changing graphic settings from standart "low" to "very high" i got this:

When i select another mech - all is ok; reselect one, that was on home screen during settings change - same picture...

What is your GPU? Also, write Reppu and the support team and tell them what took place during test. they'd want to know about this. Just check your GPU's settings for good measure. Make sure everything is correct as it should be. If ok, then its definitely game settings.

Oh well, really wanted to try this out. Still refuses to install as it sees the regular Mech Online Server and errors out:

Summary: UI2.0 Issues with Mechlab
Description:

1. New sounds for the UI need to have an off switch or something for the audio. Some users, including me do not like menu sounds. Its very annoying when your building a battle mech and all you hear is beep beep beep boop beep beep.

2.Fishing through menus, very big issue. Having to jump around in the mechlab to just adding an upgrade was very stupid. when in the UI1.0 tabs are easy to access items and upgrades just one click away not

3. Also having to jump around to mech parts is also stupid due to searching for you hard points instead of click on the part of the mech you want to edit through the easy access mech image. Having text menus in my opinion is a waste of time trying to get to what you want to add to a mech instead of just clicking on an image. I found myself getting lost in the lab more often than UI1.0, please keep it simple and easy to maneuver through menu screens like 1.0, jumping to parts and items is easier access than cluttering it all up on one side of the screen, keep it spread out with easy filters to use.

Use these ideas to help out mechlab load out menu screen:

1.keep all the mech info screen and component selection from UI1.0, KEEP INFO ON SCREEN SO ITS EASY TO NOTICE!!

In addition to the first idea is to add in the mech info, slots and heat skins. This will show the players how many slots and or heatskins the player must have or need to adjust their battlemech without having to back out every time something is purchased.

2. Menu needs to be as simple as it is now, not more complicated. Icons are better than menu lists for your equipment. I have easier time setting up a battle mech in mech load out menu screens in 1.0.

3. If menu list is a must for this new UI please put weapon hardpoints on the left side of each section you are editing. Player then will be able to tell if they are editing a E,B,M or AMS(plus ECM if mech is allowed) hard point. I still like the image of the basic battle mech armor and interactive clicking on the battle mech better than current ui2.0. Again add things like ammo and weapon load outs while in mechlab loadout menu. Jumping to equipment is the most important thing and finding it fast.

This UI2.0 makes it harder to find things, don't hide stuff in menus. If you do that then your going to need a tutorial on how to use the mechwarrior menus.

positives and negatives for UI1.0

+ Mechlab is interactive and easy to navigate from part to part, filter is icon sorted not text menu based, and Jumping to Pilot Lab, Modules, Camo Spec, Cockpit, Upgrades, and all other equipment is one click away. (Tab system works for me not text based menus)

+Component selection and mech info is better to see in mechlab loadout and viewing mech.

+Building mechs is simple fast and easy when you learn the menu system and not fishing for your hard points.

- No drop down menu or sorting of battlemechs to chose mechs quickly and easy.

-No Ammo counter for how much ammo is stored on battle mech.

-No Slots or heatsink counter for when editing battle mech in loadout screen.

-Invite to group issues.

positives and negatives UI2.0

+mech list is given to navigate through battle mechs plus a filter system by class and by ones owned by the user

+mech lab purchasing is easier through the new navigation system but...

-because hardpoints and loadouts are missing very hard to figure out what the mech has.

-Fishing through menus to find camo spec and hardpoints and mech equipment

-Camo spec is now garbage go back to list filter and more colorblocks to see instead of scrolling through each color.

-same issues as UI1.0 that are negative.

It looks to me you are missing the VC++ 2010 redist (x86/32-bit version) that is required in the install. Redownload the test server stuff or download the required libs so it can be installed w/o failing miserably.

I have one major issue. if you buy premium time it auto activates. I mean the min you buy the clock starts running.

Next up I hate 2.0 it counter to any way to do a load out. No dlb click, no seeing load out, I have to say this is 2 steps back.

But the did make sure the shop is working. Oh and if you have premium time that you did not use. I have 4 days it gone.

PGI all this time for this mickey mouse piece of S#!+. wow this is only at most 2months work. As i have to say I will be on the side line when this goes live. I will wait for I hope the smufy type it. This it going to make lots of warroirs mad.

I do have a video of the fun but I not even going to up load it. I think other will see the madness.

Disclaimer: This is my first UI 2.0 testing experience.

Here are some things I noticed:

There is no area in the Options menu to configure Joystick button mapping. Only mouse and keyboard. I'm one of the pilots who likes to use a joystick and keyboard combo. Please fix this.

Mech thumbnails in the Inventory and Mechlab did not show currently mounted equipment, weapons or hardpoint configurations with the selected mech.

In addition, it might be a good idea to show what, if any, modules and cockpit items are assigned to a mech when their thumbnail is highlighted. Likewise in the Module tab, a selected module could show what mech(s) it is currently assigned with. Likewise for cockpit items.

In the Camo Spec tab, there needs to be an additional filter for colors: Unlocked. This way players can select from the colors they already own without having to scroll through the rest.

The glass effects and terrain/building textures did not show up in one of the rounds of Frozen City Night. Even on High settings.

Title: Load out details missing
Description: Weapon load out and engine details would be useful to describe, both when purchasing new Mechs but also when reviewing owned Mechs in their summary description prior to entering any changes in the Mechlab. This more so the case when multiple Mechs of a similar chassis and variant are owned and you need help to distinguish between them.

When clicking on the Statistics 'button', it asks me if it can open a web browser. I click Ok.
However, when the page attempts to open: http://70.42.29.71/profile/stats I get an error that states: "This page can't be displayed" in the title bar, and the page message is: "Internet Explorer Cannot Open this Page". I am using IE version 11.0.9600.16476. Google Chrome cannot open the link either.
One other thing is the icons for hard points do hot have a hover description. I was not sure what one of them was, but I assume it is an AMS. The others were more intuitive.
Thanks,
-Pavonis

Biggest issue: I can't change my joystick mappings, yet the public test incorrectly ported them. THe button I use for push to talk is also alpha striking. So I can't really play the game, the joystick mapping did not port correctly, and there is no way to modify them. You need to have this working before you go live, or lots of folks will quit playing.

Other issues:
Someone sent me a friend invite, (he told me on teamspeak) I didnt get a notification of this, but when I went into the social button he was listed as a friend, but he didnt see me on HIS friends list. So that is a bit screwy.

The inventory screen would be awesome if there was a way to see items (especially modules) and where they currently are.

Would love a way to see at a glance what modules are in a mech.

I thought we were going to get a way to quickly strip a mech of everything.

I thought we were going to be allowed to change the order of the mechs.

Summary: Chat Line Disappears
Description: I noticed in a match that people were discussing something and for every player who said something the previous line would just disappear. Since they were getting heated it was next to impossible to read the conversation going on. There going so fast that I'm neither of them even had the chance to read what the other person said.

Summary: Ability Key Bindings
Description: I tried to adjust key bindings in game and they wouldn't change. I would click on the key I wanted to change and it didn't change. Specific key was mapping "Target - R" to "G".

Steps to Reproduce: Exited the menu then went back in to make changes and it still didn't do it.
Double Click, not single click. Duh

Summary: Hard Point Descriptions
Description: When purchasing a new Mech I felt as though my selection was hindered by the fact that I didn't see what the Mech's hard points are.

Summary: Modules
Description: Currently I know that there isn't a way to see where your modules are unless you just click through all your Mechs. However, it's worse now that it doesn't show at all what is on each Mech's layout.

Final note, OMG that beeping sound. It's cute at the beginning but with the amount of stuff you highlight over, it will get super annoying for a lot of people.

Well two seconds into "testing" and I selected the Founder Cat-C1 and it instantly crashed and thanks to a file for it probably being corrupted and the new layout it now crashes on logging in every single time, making the game entirely unplayable.

I'm sure the usual patch day re-download would fix it but a faster solution would be nice since it also makes it impossible to run the game at all since the last selected mech has to be shown and if it crashed the game before it for some reason still loads it.

Beyond that I did like what little I got to see as far as changes went but like I said, wasn't much and I doubt I'll have time within the window to reinstall.

2 Biggest comments (complaints) I have:

1. As stated several times in the comments, this UI has way too much switching around for configuration. This is the 1st time i used it and it was kind of painful to buy and completely reconfigure a new mech.

2. Play was an epic fail for me because i could not map the analog throttle in the keyboard section and got stuck constantly going backwards when i dropped, made it essentially unplayable ... I am using an old Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS of which i use the throttle for forward and backward movement along with mapped buttons, I switched back to the production game and all was still working fine there ...

thx

Summary: UI and Scaling issues with surround/eyefinity/ultrawide resolutions

Description:
When set to use with surround/eyefinity resolutions, the UI's positioning and usability are affected, or not designed to handle properly, the mech listing will overlap from left monitor to center monitor, making resolutions with bezel correction block out some items. Loading screens are vertical minus, instead of horizontal plus, or at least make blank placeholders so we dont have stretched out zoomed images with top and bottom chopped off. Some UI elements (this goes for the live client version too) are also scaled improperly (example: spectator mode's player selector is stretched). I remember 1 patch long time ago fixed the loading screen, then it was changed back to stretch/vertical minus again.

When set to use with surround/eyefinity/ultrawide resolutions, the background rendering of the mechbay has a blank space on the left side.

Title: Switching mechs while grouped is unintuitive
Description: Switching mechs while in a group is not the same as switching mechs when playing solo. You have to go into "Configure" to actually get the mech to switch while you are in a group.
Location: Mechlab/Social
Repro: 100%
Steps to reproduce: Open Mech lab. Select a mech. Go to social tab. Create group (any size). Close social tab. Open Mechlab. Select a different mech. Reopen social tab. RESULT: Originally selected mech I still selected. EXPECTED RESULT: Selecting a new mech while grouped is same as selecting a new mech solo.

Title: Minimizing group window is unintuitive.
Description: The user has to click the X button on the friends list to minimize the group window.
Location: Social
Repro: 100%
Steps to reproduce: Open Social tab. Create a group (any size). Note there is no minimize button available so the user can look at their mechlab. They must use the X button on the friends window, which is unintuitive.

Title: Mech skill trees not visible for mechs not currently owned
Description: The 'Mech Tree button does not appear for mechs that are not currently owned.
Location: Skill Tab
Repro: 100%
Steps to reproduce: Sell a mech you currently own and have spent XP on. Open Skills Tab. Select the mech you just sold. RESULT: The 'Mech Tree button is not available. EXPECTED RESULT: There should be some way to view completed skills on mechs not currently in inventory.
