pffft slow ... this ac 20 still better than the fist one I used in this game.

IMO AC/20 is fine you just have to get use to it.

I'm glad they lowered the speed back down as I never quite got used to it when they sped up it's speed. Now it's closer to what it was. Just learn to lead (still does the same damage it did before.)

now the AC 20 projectile is so slow i litterally just watched a cataphract casually dodge it.

AC 20 should have it's heat lowered to compensate or make it weight less or do more damage

Practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice practice and more practice.

I played with my hunchback 4g right after the patch, and I found that it works just find. Long range hits are now more problematic (as they should be), but It is fine for mid to short range engagements within its damage envelope.

He dodged it because you fired it beyond 270m wasn't it? Or did you simply MISS because you can't yet lead/aim with the new AC20 speed and you're in denial of it & blaming uber-dodging skills of a round that travels at 600m/s? Hint: Avg human reaction time is 0.7s

This. Turns out it's not as slow as I remember it being, or the closed beta velocity was even lower.

At least it isn't talking about ballistics being better than energy weapons lol

Uhm yea no, AC20 is the last thing that needs a buff. You can't snipe with an AC20 now? That's a GOOD thing.

You can snipe with the ac20. you just have to calculate the wind speed and gravitational pull, There are several other factors that play into it that i will not mention here...lol

I agree you shouldnt be able to snipe with an AC20. However they needed to decrease the range, not decrease the projectile speed. The AC10 is still frickin useless because the AC20 has too much range. Its completely stupid that an AC20 does 10 damage at 540m but an AC10 only does 10 damage out to 450m.

1) increase Ac10 and AC20 projectile speed back to what it was. That was NEVER the problem.
2) decrease AC20 max range from 810m to at least 675m to give the AC10 a niche in the game.

new (old) speed is fine, just give it a bit more aim and don't fire it with your PPCs

what I'm not sure about is the bullet drop - is there any? never see it...

I've hit targets behind cover because the ac/20 projectile dropped so much.

i assume you'r talking about the specific gravity of the pilot's and the enemy pilot's swimsuit area?

nothing destroys all my careful AC20 shell calculations in the middle of battle more than finding out the enemy mech pilot isn't a guy...

AC40 Jagers mad. Hunchbacks and Yen Los have 0 issue :V The only thing I have about this is that I can't chase lights with my Yen Lo Wang (the thing goes 110 KPH and has full armor) and dropping them with rounds that are half as big as they are. :V Thats why he also has pulse lasers though.

No kidding, I was aiming at a mech ~400M out earlier with an AC20 on my atlas...and I held above the head of a centurion just slightly and hit the ground in front of the mech at his feet!!! Seriously...should I have to aim for the treeline to hit him?!

Re: the AC10, was playing earlier, shooting at a mech approximately 600M out (not super long range) and had to literally aim a good 1.5" on my screen above him to hit a shadow hawk dead center torso. Missed the first shot quite a bit short because I held above his head slightly.

I don't mind compensating for range, in fact I welcome it to some degree...but those ranges are not terribly extreme for either weapon and that much drop compensation is almost like heaving rocks with a slingshot...

Not quite...brawlers aren't mad, anything that fights at medium range is upset though. I agree AC20 Jagers were a pain in the ***, but you just stay outside their range. Frankly, I would not mind if AC20 range was specially reduced to do damage only to 540M. In fact I think that specifically would balance out nicely.

270 meters IS the AC20s listed effective range, a 100 ton atlas can take 500 different other things (lrms, ppcs, lasers, smaller ACs) then what is supposed to be a brawling weapon, and I do not have that much issue adjusting for the drop with mechs like the Hunchback at up to 400 meters. Hunchbacks NEED to use that gun outside brawling ranges sometimes because they often only have 3 or 5 medium lasers as back up weapons

Maybe because your torso speed is slower? I don't know. But I have quite a few mechs I mount a 20 on every now and then, including a dedicated one Yen Lo who with an XL engine is NOT a brawler and can still perform pretty well. My shots hit where I want them to go most the time.
