AC2 was shit, now it's complete shit and I hope you're happy about that. I hated it before it was nerfed and never used it, now there isn't a single useful build using AC-2 instead of Gauss.

So, basically, the AC2 now becomes "Joke Build" weaponry because anything else in ballistics is superior too them. Where you had an AC2 boat, you'll drop one and just have one less AC5? I dunno. I'm just trying to illuminate where the meta will move to next.

I'm not a 1% player so I may not have a full understanding of the meta, but I don't think the AC/2 was ever a meta weapon.
In other words, nerfing the AC/2 doesn't move the meta.
AC/2 boats were sort of similar to LRM boats. They were "good" against bad players and pretty useless against good players. As with the 175 m/s LRMs, I'm not sure why PGI felt the need to nerf them because they weren't all that good in the first place.
Fun, yes. NEEDZ MOAR DAKKA. But good? Not really. Maybe PGI just likes to nerf fun?

Some of us care about balance in the abstract. Why nerf a weapon that already isn't all that great?
If there was anything about the AC/2 that was even remotely OP, it was its impulse. That was the entire reason for needing Ghost Heat on the AC/2, after all. So if in some abstract way it was felt that the AC/2 was too powerful, why nerf its range and ROF? Why not nerf its impulse and fix the only part of it that was actually too good?
PGI's actions speak volumes.

I build me a CTF 3D as i had toyed around with the Champion Trial 3D and did not like to have its negative W/L in my Stats.
Toyed around with some builds while grinding XP and losing further matches so i had to improve the build - especially the speed.
The AC2 in the RA gave me room and free tonnage to accelerate the Mech by almost 20kph and links very well with the AC10 in the RT having now a much better success rate and worked myself into the positives.
Also thx MM - the first time in a PUG that i got a win having 4 Players doing ZERO damage
