Some times as a slow and lumbering assault, one has to take desperate measures to ward off marauding lights. One of my favorite tactics recently has been putting an arty strike at my own feet. The results are often hilarious, and some times effective. See below:

that was a fun game  realy desperate at the end
i going to remember this if i ever face a wolfpack alone.
i just used the artylery strike as a suicide button if i know i cant escape any more.
but yet i have to play a game where every one dies a the end.

I love trolling people with Arti. There are some dirty tactics you can use, but its brilliant when it pays off!

However it's also evidence of why you should never admire your own work.

Yea, but half the time its like deer looking into headlights... you just cant look away from those explosions

I had a round just like that where I placed a really nice arty strike and couldnt stop laughing afterwards which got me killed because I stood still for too long.

Why you should not cluster up on a cap point in the middle of a firefight:

Why you should never stand still in a light on a cap point, even if you are a well beloved PGi developer and it seems completely safe. :D

A most excellent Tactic...
I also enjoy letting go with a suicide arty strike when a group of enemy gang banger's go nose to nose. Each trying to be the first to take the prize and finish me off. So when I'm critical and the inevitable end is near, I suicide and take one or two along with me to Valhalla. Besides leaving a thoughtful farewell gift in the final seconds is always nice way to say goodbye and show just how much you really care. :)

Ive never dropped Arty at my feet.. but i HAVE made people rage when my Flamer powered Wolvy drops a Artillery Accuracy boosted Improved Artillary strike on them when they were fighting in a street at the edge of a town. Dropped it right ontop of 2 enemy mech's. One an atlass, and not sure what the other one was.. with 3 friendlies near them, and only damaged the Enemy mech's =)

Playing on Frozen City I put down a strike on a heavy mech near theta. When it hit I see SIX separate component destroyed messages but no kill.

Six components destroyed on ONE mech? No, no quite. Had to watch the replay to figure out what had happened. It turns out Firestarter which was at the corner of my screen when I activated the strike made it there just in time to join in the fun. I guess smoke is hard to see on thermals. ;)
