If the Urbie will come out, i will buy all variants even if crappy. Because having Urbie in my Mech Bay is simply mandatory!

what would speak for the Urbie is the following:

it's released feb 4th, the first patch of thhe month - so it will probably be a hero mech
why a new chassis on the beginning of the month, if that mounth will be one of the two saber mech's turn for cbill-release?

I think it is thinkable to be the Urbanmech - because it will be a hero mech
that way, the devs can give it a enginerating 100+ without breaking the canon

urbie is the most controversial light mech in this forum

but i don't know which faction could have made it famous...that's the problem of my thesis

(I'm hoping for Wolfhound since it was the counter to the Jenner.)

As much as I'd love to speculate and want to ponder another mech. I'd rather they hold off and give us a huge whopping update and bug address for the Feb 4th patch. Heck, hold off on 4 new mech releases up until June, I'd trade that for purely focusing on the current issues and community engagement.

More of what Paul did with the NARC, please. That type of thing was awesome to come across.

Remember, the art team and the programming team work entirely independently and adding new mechs and maps do not influence the rate at which features are developed.

And since you can sell mechs for real money, the larger portion of their team is dedicated to the part that makes money, so no worries about content that can be sold. Content that you can't sell for real money instantly has to wait, i.e. CW.

PGI has proven in the last two months that they really try to improve communication and personally I feel more than ever assured that the game is in good hands
feb 4th will be buggy...but they will deliver, and they'll do their best

never forget...they brought us back the universe we love to our pcs...and the mechs look better than ever before

Are you serious? You consider that improved communication, ok, I'll grant you it's more communication then we tend to get (unless they are selling something, oh wait they are selling something) but if this is their best I'm scared. I'd rather them be lazy and greedy than incompetent. Lazy and greedy might change, hell greedy might realize there is more money in a stable balanced game with actual end game goals. Inept just keeps bumbling from blunder to blunder. Of course greedy can always count on people who will simple keep playing and paying based on nostalgia. Oh well I don't forget that they haven't delivered on a lot of what they've promised and appreciate that I'm not so blinded by IP loyalty to keep throwing good money after bad.

  • 4-5 varients mainly Energy based I admit but with one Missile and 1 ECM for a bit of variety
  • Time line correct
  • 25 tons has only one other Mech represented in it thus far. 35t Has two already. 20t has one plus the promised Flea (which may or may not happen I know)
But regardless of what we get I'll be happy to see another Light chassis. OK go on and tell me how wrong I am now :huh:

True that. But its to be expected. It is Beta is it not? Heck its real progress and they're trying. I'm pleasantly surprised, a bit burnt out, but happy.

Why lol, panther was the only light mech designed to take a ppc in the I.S, it was able to do this because it had a smaller engine and was slower than most lights.

Including it would be the only legitimate cheese build in the game, the open *** customisation seems to have a lot to answer for, half the balance problems are caused by the total lack of rational to whats allowed on a mech and whats not

As Rand circled the Gladiator, one of the enemy assault mechs slumped as the pilot DC'ed, "probably a virtual memory problem." Rand thought. "Perhaps we'll prove them wrong today.. (again)"

Rand juked the spry Mongoose as lasers reached out to her, she could see and hear (only when she turned the speakers up) Fanchers massive Gauss charging. She knew she had another .75 seconds to duck behind a hillock. The tree stump beside her exploded into splinters as a slug missed her.
"Thank the stars he isn't using a Streak boat build!" as she broke the Mongoose into another sprint.

More support showed up for Fancher and she nearly broke a sweat. They showered LRM's on the light mechs as they danced, stopped, stood still, then sprinted away among the Heavy and Assault units of Fanchers retinue. Yet because their LRM builds were sub optimal and well below 50 it only seemed to add to the hurricane of fire surrounding them as they fought in the eye of melee.
For a moment, fear of defeat creeped into her mind...
Until she saw that the remaining Jenners and Spiders were still with her. ECM blanketed the area and no one had yet deployed a NARC.

The fusilade of laser and AC fire flew like a torrent and her spirited light mechs, yet hit-registry and ping discrepancy's were with them as they pressed home the advantage.

Every moment was a fleeting joy that Rand could barely recall afterwards as they completely annihilated Fanchers support, reinforcements, and even their reserves. She recalled afterwards, standing over the smoldering ruin of Fanchers Gladiator how much grinding she'll need to do in the next little while to save up for the next Mongoose to Elite the chassis. "So glad I don't have to pay for repairs..." she thought as her mind wandered in an exhausted haze.

As she wiped her brow and took a swig of the salty electrolyte drink she muttered "gg" in salute and walked away.

If it is controversial it is 100% the Javelin with its ECM and missile slots and jumpjets. Cant get much more controversial than that...

I think the Javelin would be good for the light 'Mech food chain, as a jumping streak boat.

I love the Wolfhound, but it doesn't have any unique hardpoints and it isn't controversial at all.

I'm guessing its the Urbanmech, it was the iconic Liao light 'mech and its had a lot of controversy around it in discussions here. But it will be completely terrible and DOA with engine caps.

  • I cant find a light mech in timeline that would be more controversial to implement due to it being a spider upgrade, as many people take umbrage at spiders as it is. Could there be anything more controversial than a spider with wings, 5 extra tonnes and reused art assets?
  • It would be sensible that if you had something like this thats a bit samey to an existing mech, to release it in a month when another mech was coming as well.
  • The manufacturer for the mech is primarily Kuritan, which fulfills the criteria for faction specific.
  • Its not unseen
  • Its still a light
  • It has 3 variants
  • Humanoid
  • Previously "completely unseen" within a certain interpretation of the context
  • There was a relatively small poll suggesting the venom as a hero mech for the spider back in march 2013 when spiders where rubbish that the community voted generally favourably on, but it was discussed by the community within that thread that it is a separate chassis.
  • It opens the door for other "upgraded" chassis to be released as a 2nd mech per month probably relatively cost effectively for mechs such as the Grand Dragon (and maybe stretching things a bit, things like the Atlas II if they add a couple of non canon variant designations).
