The urbie doesn't work with MWO construction rules. The engine would need to weigh a negative amount for the stock mech to be possible. Also it comes with a std 60. MWO only has as low as STD 100 in game.

I don't really see the firestarter as "controversial" unless having ECM is all we need for a controversy around here.

My guess it is a Wolf Dragoons mech. Flea or Firefly.

That said the Firestarter could be useful in the current game. Firefly maybe, Flea no.

They already said it wasn't the Flea, as the Flea has already been announced.

The Wolfhound could be a possibility, imagine how many people would pay for Phelan Kell's hero mech.

Gauss rifles have no recoil.

Yes they do.

Also, my vote goes to it being the Fire Moth, favored heavily by Clan Wolf over the other clans. That would be controversial as all getup.

Again, I wonder if they'll bump it up to 35 tons to make it fit a legal engine, and make it a bit more viable. You wanna talk controversy? There you have it.

Why not a Oscout?
That would be a controversial Mech. Information Warfare for the win ;)

So far I really, really dislike the light mechs i've tried.

I think part of this is I loved the Stinger/Wasp/Valkyrie standard humanoid/Robotech design.

I suppose I could get behind a Wolfhound depending on the artwork/model...but anything else is probably a disapointment for me.

the urbanmech would be the best selling hero mech of all time. PGI would be stupid not to add it to the game. Especially since theyre about to shoot themselves in the foot with tonnage limits which will make heavies/assaults sell less.

Urbie, if they can figure a way to do things right would be the fan-favorite winner. I can see them hopping along the artic peaks like little mountain goats of dakka.... ;) And of course, it'd mean PGI figured out how to do small engines right.

Firestarters would be the by-far most useful light they could add, though. The -A is an 8-hardpoint energy boat, the H is six and a pair of MG points, which makes them compete fine with the Raven. The -S is for "simply fantastic", as it's got the gold standard of ECM, jump capacity, and even more laser pew-pew than a Jenner if it so desires.

You can get fairly close to a stock Urbie build

Here using a spider 5K,

Has a Std 100 instead of std 60, 1 less JJ and 1 less HS.

I thought I remembered that in the original podcast that Russ mentioned that the mech was also a 'specialist mech' although I could have misremembered that part. If true, this would give strong evidence to the firestarter. Personally I think that it is either the wolfhound or firestarter and I think its most likely the firestarter. Of course I want it to be the firestarter so that might have colored my opinion.

edit: and for the record they will never produce the urbie, its just too OP and will break the game. If they ever released a hero version of the urbie they would confirm people's fear that this game was going P2W. Can you imagine fighting a mech that has an AC10 and a small laser a few tons of armor, a couple of JJs and moves almost as fast as a stock atlas? Its like an instant win button.

The only specialist mech that i know is the Ostscout. The Firestarter is a energy mech like the Jenner F.... boring!

I'm cool with another light mech that's easy to kill like Locusts.

Only if they give it the special paint that makes the teeth show up in IR vision mode...

Honestly, winning and losing in this game is so freaking irrelevant at this point, I don't know that I care.

Here is how I play...I go out, do my best to do damage and kill people...that's it. If I win? No big thing, If I lose? No big thing. If I die? Normally it's because I get bored and do something stupid, no big thing.

It's almost sad. I'd probably have an awesome KDR if I could bring myself to give a ****.

so sad but so true.

there is no goal or anything to foster building a community or even engage in conflicts. every match is the same to me at this point and its boring.
i would really like to play 12v12 but its extremely hard to set them up during my time zone..... even if i got free mechs at this point it wouldn't make me excited to play.
