I won't deliberately kill myself, but I will risk it if I think I can make a killing blow that way.

I think if you override shutdown the last person who hit you should get the kill.

I agree.

As for those who say they deliberately suicide when the odds are against them... Man up, try to kill something, and go down swinging. By trying, you at least have a chance to finish off a damaged Mech, earning yourself and contributing team mates additional rewards.

OOOH, yesterday was awesome..... down to 2 mechs, myself in my Toastermaster and a Victor...

Both hurting, both running hot. VIctor overheats, I know I would too.... override, alpha, override, alpha... Victor dead, me just dead seconds later.

My team won, because he died first.

And the Ocean of Tears from the Victor was so glorious, you could have turned Terra Therma into a nice , balmy, tropical, lagoon paradise. Bwahahaha :)

Do you override shutdowns to go down fighting? If someone dies by overriding a shutdown are you upset about it?

Hell yes I do

I never actually use override shutdown, I never knew what it did (until now..) and the button is too far away for me to press it while still desperately trying to take someone with me...

At least in my line of play (Lights) Over-riding shutdown before actually overheating is an incredibly stupid thing to do, since you will die in one salvo.
I could see some larger mechs being able to survive, but in a Jenner you might as-well just shut-down and save your internals in the hope that you can restart and get another one off, because your internals will blow out in one - over 100% - salvo anyway.

I only really use override in my 7F, but only when I'm legged and getting focused down...I figure what the hell.

And very rarely when facing an enemy who just needs a few more damage points to go down, and I'm running in the 90's chain-firing ML's with the possibility of grazing 100%...

I've only hit Override one or twice, and only in picture-perfect situations. If you're a loner hit by the entire enemy team and you're a Heavy or above, no reason to override. Fire some salvos out while retreating, then if your torso-twisting has resulted in all yellow internals, well it's an uphill battle across lava anyways. Might as well drink some of that lava so you can spit it out at your enemy.

So while hitting override and alpha-ing a lost cause isn't the best option it's certainly within the CoC as everyone else has said. I'd suggest doing a ton of torso twistage before doing so, you'll get over 100 damage that way.

It's not my go-to move by far, but some situations call for it. I don't see anything wrong with this as long as your actually shooting an enemy and about to go down anyways.

If I know shutting down is going to kill me and I'm in a tough firefight, I override. Sometimes I blow up, sometimes not. I'm always surprised when I do.
