The GXP unlocks are universal yes.

IE you unlock advance sensor range 2/2, all Advance sensor range modules you own or will own are upgraded

1x for GXP skills, however you have to buy a module (with $$$) for each mech you want. Just buy the adv zoom skill once, but you'll need to purchase the actual zoom module for each mech you want to install it on. (Your 'pilot' only needs to learn the zoom skill 1x, but you have to buy optical zoom equipment for every mech your pilot wants to put it on).

Also GXP is precious, don't squander it if your a ftp (otherwise you can just buy the xp -> gxp conversion thing).

Yes and no. You only need to unlock it once, but rather than buy the modules repeatedly (they're super expensive), here's a much better (and more common) solution: Buy one of each one you want and install the desired ones on your mech when you're about to drop. When you're done with a mech, take the modules off so they're always "in the garage." I own nearly sixty mechs. I own no more than one of any module. If I did, I'd own a lot less mechs.

True, you can always swap previously bought out modules before each launch. I should have mentioned that earlier, my bad.

 It's just something not everybody thinks of, but sharing modules (and engines) is a big way to keep more c-bills for new chassis/guns/etc.

This can also be true of engines. Before I shut down my MWO client I put my last used mech "to bed". This means that I unload the engine and all the modules and put them in the garage.

When I pull a mech out to play I install the largest engine I have in stock because that will be what I removed. If a larger engine would fit, but I don't own it, that means that the additional weight was in engine mounted heat sinks so I load those in up to the mech's max weight. I then choose what modules I want and go hunting (or become the hunted :) ).

As mentioned above the sharing of engines and modules can save you a lot of C-Bills that can be put to better use elsewhere.

I decided to go the other route. I buy modules and engines as I need them. I have 54 mechs and they each have the appropriate modules and engines (even XLs). My reasoning is that I don't want to have to reload modules, engines and heatsinks every time I switch mechs. It makes it a lot faster for me to get ready when dropping with a group, and it means that I can get into my match sooner. I don't see much point in having a ton of c-bills sitting around, which is what will happen eventually if you don't spend them on modules and XLs. BTW, I currently have nearly 100 million c-bills.

You inspired me. I've adopted this system for engines too (unless I have enough of an engine type to keep all mechs that use that type engined up). Lovin' it.

I have about 5mm c-bills. Those and the next 10mm will buy my third Atlas.

When I have all the mechs I want, I'll start filling in engines first, then modules on my "top ten" mechs. I'm not there yet...
