TBH I have many issues with the cockpit glass. According to lore pilots wore a neuro helmet which feeds info directly to the brain from sensors in the mech.
So were now throwing that piece of lore out the window and taking a step back to 20th century tech?

Wrong, the neuro Helmet took information from the pilots sense of balance, helping the mech run more like a giant human, and helped it compensate for terrain better. It included HUD elementts but it did NOT control the mech directly. That is what the hand and feet controls are for.

I'm liking the new cockpit glass effect. To me it adds to the immersion factor. I do take notice of those opinions saying it causes pain after a while ( even though I cannot experience it) and hope that it's just a matter of getting used to it because it looks great.

If not, well I guess I'll just enjoy it while we have it...

I understand why some people don't mind the glass effect. After all, I did not hate the ghost heat, because it caused people to use more weapons. I like greater versatility. Sadly, this is a great impact for SOME people, if your not affected, it's like a plus for you...since if others get a minus and you do not..that's a net gain. Realism is not added...underground and still glare? Plus it interferes with REAL gameplay and in the end if the game is not fun, we will not play. This effect takes processing power, slows the game, interferes with vision, causes eye strain and motion sickness. Decreases frame rate, ALL for the added effect of less vision. How about destructible buildings, imagine destroying a stone bridge in canyon ? That's a real feature, "Hay, lets slow up the game so people see less"... This is not a feature, its a VERY frustrating feature, with the only off switch being...Go play something ELSE. Message heard.

If the Mech cockpit takes actual recorded damage in combat...YES apply the effects to the Windshield to reflect this. But as for starting the match off with other effects dirt, (alien glow) etc....NO!
God help the poor SOB who has a weak video card, a small monitor and poor eye site. Those effects are a serious distraction to the fantastic design environment in which we war. For the purists who want to micro manage every detailed realism, then allow it as an option.
Especially for those of us who have purchased $500.00 video card to enjoy this gaming environment; or have supplied their Bondsmen with enough Windex to keep their Battlemechs windshields clean.

Hmm, I forgot they added this when I played last night, didnt even notice it.
But since cockpits have glass, why hasnt someone in the 31st century invented artillery paint bombs? Disable an entire team in one shot. And the high-tech paint bomb counter - windshield wipers. And windshield fluid modules.... and... ok Ill shut up.

Cockpit glass... meh.

No Man I think right on target...we can stretch the Immersion Issue can be driven to extremes.

I'm thinking the Dev's will be slapping on advertisement stickers to our windshields next as well.

Wow...you get this game to be immersed in a Mech sim and all i see is beyatchin about the immersion. Here is a fix for all those fair-weather pilots. Either run third person view or don't play. I want this game to be as realistic as possible, and I am sorry if you take an AC20 to the dome chances are the glass will start to crack. How is that not realistic?!?

Hell, the first game i played (granted I did not read the patch notes first) i was wondering what the hell the sheen i kept seeing was, in fact i got all blowed up while staring at it like a complete noob...but guess what, ya didn't catch me going off to the forums to blow up the devs about wanting an on off switch. Adapt and conquer, not beyatch and pitch a fit like some 5 year old!!

That's an Ad Hoc Fallacy to assume you know why people get this game, and to what level of immersion they actually want to have in it.

Reality Really lets go all the way how about body parts on the field blood on the glass. How about burnt corpses on the field from pilots who did not get out in time lets really ramp this up to give you the full effect. How about one step further lets wire your computer up to the game and it self destructs when you killed on the field.

Damn you folks are a bunch of 10 year olds want to play army in the woods. This is a game for entertainment for christsakes. You want the real thing go sign up for the arm services and do a few tours get your jollies on seeing real life carnage. This is entertainment not reality so grow up.
