TLDR:
People who can make shots and use their skill want to have a less obsecured view whilst people who can't make shots long range can't even tell why some people dislike it so much.

After trying out my long range support mech with zoom, this SUCKS and seems like another deliberate nerf. Of course it does not stop the pop tart AC/PPC meta at all but nerfs long range builds using the zoom module and a large FOV.

Remove this garbage or at least make it able to be toggled off and spank who ever made this happen.

If you look closely, you'll notice it's not dirt... it's damage to the glass.

Blah blah blah

This is what wax is for.

This game does have pretenses towards being a simulator. Things like limited visibility, narrow fields of view, cockpit glare, and components obscuring your view are kind of par for the course.

Film grain, yes. That has no place here. Cockpit glass and monitors obscuring your vision? Absoloutely.

Remember, Mechwarrior, like Star Wars, is supposed to evoke a grimy, World War II-esque feel. If you want to play a game with perfectly unimpeded visibility, go play one of the mountains of other first person shooters out there. There's really no shortage of them.

Personally, I want to feel like I'm jammed into the cockpit of a giant, two hundred year old fighting robot, with all the limitations that comes with.

While we are at it remove the mechs legs and arms, I dont remember any one in the community asking for those ...

It a great effect and adds depth and falls into the background pretty quick after a few hours. I like that you can use the sun and light to your advantage now. Cockpit screens do need content, dont care what, ammo counters, damage reports, temp sensor... make it configurable but put anything on there that is active and relevent.

First off i'd like to know what mechwarrior games you've played, since all the ones i remember playing (MW2, MW3, MW4, MWLL MWO) are all very arcade like in their physics, and secondly i think you're talking about battletech not mechwarrior.

I absolutely hate film grain. It's a horrible effect and I never understood, why there is no toggle for it...
The glass affect is ok, and I wouldn't mind it, if it (with high possibility) wasn't the cause for a massive drop in framerate for me. Never had a problem with a drop in the framerate until this patch.

I think it's not good how the window damage is there with standard first person view, but there is nothing obscuring vision with the 3rd person view which probably shouldn't really exist. Unless there is a camera mounted on a stick stuck to the top of the mech?

I never mentioned physics. I was talking about tone. Battletech's always been about gritty, WWII-esque tank battles, only the tanks are 30 meters tall and walk.

Personally I like it. I find it does not obscure my vision and it gives the cockpit a little something extra when I'm walking to the fight. That said I can understand others may not like it. Maybe they will add it to the options menu just like damage glow is currently.

But please do something about the No Signal on all the screens. I wouldn't mind if it were another static placeholder, but maybe it could show, well, anything that a single line of text.

Whoever came up with the windows never owned an old car. I have owned many. There are LOTS of scratches in the glass but you NEVER see them because your eyes are focused past the glass. Take it out, it adds nothing, and for the love of freaking jesus take out the film grain. The monitor problem is so old I'm not even going to talk about it.

These aren't game breaking issues

however a toggle/opacity slider would be nice for grain and windows. Personally I dislike grain more, as it has been with us so long, for no worthwhile reason.

Removing monitors would probably be too much work.

It's a very good point that your eyes would focus past the window if it was real.

Please keep the monitors, 'film grain' (environmental effects) and dirt/damage to the windows. It helps make this BattleTech and immersive. thank you.

Film Grain: This one is a no-brainer. This is a pilot-in-seat experience. There should be no film effects and they don't make any sense at all and they make the game look like {Scrap} and use way more video resources. REMOVE IT.

Window Dirt: Nobody was requesting this feature and without wipers it's not even fair. No mechwarrior in their right mind would go out with an obscured windscreen. As an environment effect, used VERY sparingly, this has its place but nobody was asking for this feature. REMOVE IT.

Useless Monitors: More unfinished artwork that still makes the game look half-done. Every single person I've ever shown this game to has asked me why they say "no signal". REMOVE THEM.

The person making choices that intentionally obscure our vision needs a stern talking down to by a manager so that these terrible choices will stop.

I wish this were more RPG style, I'd stand up my character and break down the monitors and then get out a bottle of windex and give the camera a good smack so the video cable will re-seat.

I mean, it's supposed to be "MY" mech right? I paid for it? So why couldn't I change these things? The truth is that EVERYONE WOULD! It's UNWANTED GARBAGE and the game suffers for it.

There are words on those unused monitors still? ;)
