It is much worse with some mechs.

Holy {Scrap}, are you playing with 100% gamma or something? What I see on mine is hardly noticeable, a little more on the sides with some light annoyances in the middle. I'm playing on super-duper high everything at 1920 x 1080. Maybe it's a card thing.

I added some "regular" screens to show what I normally deal with. I also added 2 photos of my settings I never touched Gamma and run Medium everything, AA off, Motion blur low. I have an Overclocked 955BE running 3.7ghz, 8GB ram, ATI 5770 also overclocked. I know it isn't the best PC but I run flawlessly, 60fps, on Medium settings. I can run High but that tends to lag a bit at the worst times. I prioritize playability over looks.
I also wanted to remind some of the elitists that will inevitably say "upgrade or uninstall" That a player base is made up of all sorts of PCs, of varying quality. A game can't be successful if it only caters to the extreme gamers.

Took a couple of shots for this thread last night...
As you can see, the general haziness is pretty bad, but the scratches aren't much of an issue. At least this has been my typical experience. I only thought to do this in the Jager though, but haven't noticed much of a difference through my other mechs.
For reference, my specs:
OS Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional
System RAM: 32744 MB
CPU Name: Intel® Core™ i7-3820 CPU @ 3.60GHz
CPU Speeds: 3601
Physical CPUs: 1
Virtual CPUs: 8
Video Card Description: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670
VRAM: 2048 MB
Primary Display Resolution: 1920x1080
Multi-Monitor Desktop Resolution: 5760x1080
Windows Experience Index Rating: 7.7

I don't like window dirt, but I don't like my windscreen in my car getting obscured either. I do however understand and respect that it does happen and removing it deliberately would take us a step back from realism. This is not Quake, nor it is CoD. It was never meant to be some stripped down, back to basics shooter, so don't give in to all those people complaining about fluff when really micro is what often makes depth.
Film Grain on the other hand is somewhat stupid.

Window effects can stay. I like the idea of the cockpit getting damaged.
The monitors need to be put to use, not removed.

Tried to get my glass as opaque as yours, but didn't manage. Guess it's either mech or video card/driver specific (using a geforce myself). Has to be fixed either way, would feel bad every time I should someone in the tunnel otherwise.
Until then, try dropping shadows to low.
On another note, I'm not terribly keen on the blurred objects in the distance. Sniping on forest colony feels as if I didn't have my glasses on at times.

I agree that is depends a lot on the mech, which is why I wanted to create a bank of Screens to prove to people that it does happen.
My personal thought is that there is some coding issue (surprised?) with how light reflects off the glass.
BTW addes some more good photos to my album

The monitors just need to be updated so they show useful information. It shouldn't be a terribly difficult feature to implement, as some of the monitors already display info (heatsinks, ammo, kills). It's just all low priority at the moment.
I'm just confused why they decided to add cockpit glass before working monitors. "AUTODETECT: NO SIGNAL" is far more immersion-breaking than pristine glass.

What currently bothers me is how dark all the maps are now that they disabled Brightness and Contrast settings. I'm playing in a dark room and still squinting to see shit.

So that's that. Finally the Stiffy is gone forever. Some may rejoice, some may remember, but we'll all know why.
