Hmmm, oki maybe an Urbie is to OP, :D Half the Size of a Comando and 360 degree Torsotwist. I would love him. :P :)

You do realize that was to note this silly thread has nothing to do with game balance and doesn't belong in the game balance forum, or really any forum but whatever.

looks like Battletech Discussion. Urbie is the Messiah of Battletech, so i don't see the issue.

This is a "Silly thread" is so those of us who like the UrbanMech can all Drive it on the same weekend in Force in MWO using the Spider 5k chassis. Due to the Fact that MWO did Remove the "General, General threads" area the Gameplay Balance became the closest to it.

For all we know the "controversial" mech could be a Wolfhound or a Flea(if they have MASC finished). But its a possibility that could happen since people like the the Urbanmech so much.

Once agian I here by call for March 15-17 to be Pseudo UrbanMech Day.

On those days we should get everyone interest to get onto either the NGNG TS or the NA TS to do mass drops together.

As in spiders configured to Urbie Specifications?

I would recommend to do it for selected streamers also.

I love my Urbanspider. It always gets weird looks when I play it, but it's a phenomenal machine that's a blast to pilot and sometimes, if you're lucky, you can also kill things.

A police force using a mech with an AC20 seems a little excessive to me.

The UrbanMech was designed for just what its name suggests, urban combat and defense.

It is not an item used by Police forces.

Not in canon, no. On the other hand, it is almost entirely relegated to Urban Militias, and yes those Militiias, just like the National Guard today, are used for police duty during emergencies, time of attack, curfews and riots and such.

But no, to the best of my knowledge, no Urbie goes around issuing speeding tickets (since your average bicyclist could escape him), investigating crime scenes or the like.

Also you need to realize mechs like the "Copper" did not exist for the majority of Battletech's actual history and are recent RetCons from Catalyst Game Labs. Hence, in actual IRL gaming and play, yes, UrbanMechs were used in that role for decades. Though much like the the Deputy Dawg itself, their genesis was definitely tongue and cheek. (I would note that the DD and his fellow urbies are relatively unique as the are all piloted by Militia Members who work as City Police force, and only took on their more Patlabor type role after order fell apart in the Chaos March.)
