Bought my first shadow hawk the other day. Over all its fun. My only suggestion is that the view is too narrow from the cockpit. I feel like I am looking down a tunnel out through some 25% of my screen.

I understand the cockpit frame is there for immersion, but when only a small portion of my view screen remains to look through... it is annoying. I can barely see what is directly in front of me. I cant see what is ahead to my left or right, much left what is to my left or right. And now we have on top of that dirty, glaring windows.

I don't know if the other shadow hawks have a similar cockpit view. But it would be great if you could put the windows where the pilot can actually see out of them.

I want to see the game I am playing. Its hard to be immersed and enjoy it if I can't even see what is going on in front of me.
Thanks

I think the "long hallway" viewport is supposed to be a counter-balance to the overall kickass powerhouse that the Shad is. If you could see out the sides, you'd be totally OP.

The Shawk has always had that kind of cockpit. It's one of the things that makes it pretty distince from other mechs. In the fiction the head can turn, which mitigates some of the problems, and there'd be the compressed 360-degree vision strip to compensate further, but I have found that, even with expanded field of view (which shoves a lot more cockpit wall in your face with a Shawk), you can still see plenty given how maneuverable the mech is.

Yeah, I've never liked the porthole cockpit artwork. I would have preferred Akex to go with the original Dougram-style canopy like he did with the Griffin. For some reason the Wolverine got extra windows too. If anything I would have thought that Wolvie would have the worst view.

These are small quibbles, to be sure.

Only real issue I have with my hawks is the same as my hunchie... When I'm tearing the enemy apart I can't see them some times because my uac5 generates so much muzzle flash. But hey I'd hwy are dead at the endoof the day I'm good with it.

I find it a nice balance mechanic and I actually like playing the mechs with sub optimal cockpits. It adds more flavor. Same with my illy low slung arms. Makes me think, which us why I don't think mechs should be able to raise their arms etc.

While I understand the differing sentiments, I just like to see the game. I have noticed that the guns are literally in my own face, especially when firing... which makes the extremely narrow view even worse. Just from a gamer's enjoyment point of view... I like to see the game when I play. heh
