Seems like there is nothing even close to a mechcommander game on the market at the moment. It's a shame because mechcommander is how I got started in the Mechwarrior world, awesome game, still the most fun game I've ever played to date, and if my Windows 7 64 bit would run it, I would still be playing it now. I realize MW Tactics is out, but it's completely different and it's turn based. Anyone know of any upcoming games that is similar to the original mechcommander?

Also, anyone know who currently owns the rights? And is there a reason they haven't done a re-launch to work on newer systems? You would have to think with the amount of mechwarrior fans out there it would be worth it for them to do something like how Command and Conquer did did and re-release all their old games in a package updated to work on newer systems and make a little bit of extra money. Worse case scenario you would think they would at least put it on steam and sell it for $5 or $6 bucks.

Have you heard of MechCommander OmniTech or Wolfman's mod (there are many stand-alone campaigns using his mod as a base). Both are mods for MechCommander 2, and add many new assets and some texture updates/changes. Also included are a few new campaigns specifically for MechCommander OmniTech. Both mods run perfectly fine on Windows 7.

Regarding rights, I'm certain Microsoft still holds the rights to MechCommander 2

MechCommander 1 and Gold Desperate Measures were way better than MechCommander 2. Even though the story line was good the 2d mechs were way cooler looking than the 3d ones. I still play it and make maps with the Map Maker.

That little uller BRAKKA BRAKKA BRAKKA with the auto cannon. Even had jumping pestering elementals that were hard to kill if you did not have pulse lasers or flamers.
