I really think that they're scared as Hell to show that kind of data. There is the whole psychological nature where people will bail on something if they see that others are bailing. Once the community sees that the numbers are dwindling, others will do the same just because they're afraid that nobody else will be around to play. Better to keep the population in the dark.
