I have a serious question.

Who writes your copy, IGP?

"Skulk of Ruin"

Let that sink in. Think about it, long and hard. No, actually, stop, because it doesn't make a bit of sense.

Look, the word "Skulk" means to do something in a secretive manner, to hide, or alternatively "a group of foxes."

So how do you really believe this has anything to do with a couple hero 'Mechs that are generally regarded as some of the worst? Are they hiding their capability to kill things, is that what you're trying to get across? I don't know a marketing team on the planet that would point at their own product and declare "This is ****, but please buy it."

In fact, in a bit of a literary jibe at yourself, you've accidentally just declared that these 'Mechs are going to send the player into a headlong crash. But they're going to do this stealthily, so no one will notice. I'm sorry, that doesn't make a bit of sense either.

The only way this phrasing makes more sense is to call it "A ruinous group of foxes," though this once again doesn't have a thing to do with the game itself. There are no fox themed 'Mechs in the game, nor would I think that sort of terminology even begins to apply to either of the highlighted heroes: A hybrid Awesome and a laser boat Commando.

I mean the closest you even could get to 'skulking' would be drawing a tenuous line between the origins of the word commando and this. None of these 'Mechs, not even the champion Spider 5K would be considered subtle or stealthy. The Pretty-Baby Awesome is the antithesis of stealthy, as are the Dragon and Highlander champions.

Seriously, I actually want to know what you were trying to get at with this. It isn't the first time, but it is the most egregious instance of a sort of word-salad jumble that sounds more like someone just thought the phrasing sounded cool.

Yea. PGI just makes me sad.

I want to be honest with you PGI :

The only reason I bough TDK is because I want to end all my MC before you ruin your own game even more and there is no more player around.

Seriously each time I think you've hit rock bottom you prove me wrong. Come on, no weight balancing, coolant flush, ghost heat, super AMS for only module slot, arty that have no real cooldown, no 8v8 on small map, film grain, crappy glass effect... The list of your sin goes forever.

The next heavily predictable disaster 11man vs pug. Crossing your finger wont work russ, but we all know you're on an island.

First off: Terrible sale. It's a total line-up of horrible 'mechs, except the 733C, but that's a Champion and who seriously buys Champions?

Second off: Could we get sales rooted in some kind of BattleTech lore? DO SOMETHING WITH THE IP!

Heads up to anyone reading: DO NOT - DO NOT - buy a Pretty Baby. It's the 2nd worst hero in the game, thanks to the Golden Boy existing to take the #1 slot. Horrendous 'mech that's just a nerf'ed 9M.

EDIT: Though I will give you props, this terrible sale deserves the name "Skulk of Ruin."

I do not believe there is such a thing as an inherently "bad" mech.

There's no such thing, perhaps, as an unusable 'mech but there are bad ones. The fact the AWS-9M outperforms the PB greatly makes the PB pretty unfortunate. Though it sounds like you've already gone through that pain.

Comparing the PB to the Dragon Slayer, for example, is just painful.

Once again for the drooling, mouth breathing morons out there: Every Friday there is a sale. You are not obligated in ANY way to participate in said event and your whinging tantrums to the subject of upcoming features listed in the timeline is completely unwelcome and non constructive. Post in one of the other billion whine threads about said features. K THNX BYE

FACT: PGI has all of the BattleTech franchise to write lore from for these sales, to sell this as more as "robot deathmatch 2000" and maybe introduce people to the universe. They don't.

FACT: They keep coming up with completely random naming/themes for the sales.

FACT: They don't even stick to the theme. WHY IS A HIGHLANDER 733C considered a "Skulking" 'mech?? If there ever was a full frontal "kick the door in and go in guns blazing" kind of 'mech, the Highlander would be it.

If you ignore, mock, and otherwise marginalize your players, eventually they stop offering constructive advice and start getting angry. I know that there's a vested interest in trying to blame the community for what has happened with MWO, but it's not going to work. We're not going to stand by and let you shift the blame.

It didn't work when you tried it for Hellgate London. It didn't work for Aion. And it won't work for MWO.

The community isn't at fault here.

Depends on what fault you are talking about.

For the delays, the poor information last year, the missing features from the phoenix pack and such, its not the communitys fault. That is PGI not living up to their promises and they SHOULD be chastised on these forums for it, but in a civilized way.

For the insulting, mocking and behaviour on the forums the community is the origin for most of it. Problem here is, like all F2P games, that the "community" is not only the regular players. Any {Dezgra} with an issue can make an alt account and blaze away. There really should be some sort of "Have logged in and played activly for at least 8 hours the last month" barrier to be able to post on this forum. People who feel betrayed, upset or angry over a nerf to their OP build, chassi or weapon and who have rage quit should not be allowed to dribble their hate unchecked (there are other forums for MWO players where they can do that).

This forum should be a communication channel between active players/customers and the company, not some dumpingground for random peoples whining. You are an active player with an issue? Step right it. You are someone who played a year ago (or never!) and got dissapointed over how MWO turned out? Tough, post on Reddit or somewhere just how much you hate the game/devs/whatever, but dont clutter up the official forums that are for the people who actually play the bloody game.

And another apology for the continued derail.

From hardcore BT-fans. And I almost stoped posting on forums. And no more money from me to PGI till 1PV-only is back.

Where is this actually happening? I've been on these forums for a long time and most of the very vocal critics have been around a long time and aren't hiding behind a new account. I don't think you do anyone here, even PGI, justice by spreading lies about the community.

How about instead of apologizing for going off topic, you just apologize for the content of your post?

I reluctantly picked myself up a Death's Knell yesterday and i have to say I'm having a surprising amount of fun zooming around in that little mech. It is a very nice change of pace after working on the Battlemaster for the past few weeks and i cant wait to elite it.

Really? So PGI is lying when they tell us it is bugged, but they are working to fix it.

I know, trick question, of course they are lying about trying to fix it.

Still don't remember the community being MOCKED, other than one unfortunate comment by Garth in-game.

Other than that, "ignoring" the players is not the same as "taking their advice every time", because not every suggestion from the players should be taken (tonnage matching, for example, will tank the game for certain or at the VERY BEST make no difference). The community is not qualified to suggest things for the game. They can't even agree amongst themselves on most things.

I don't think the problem is "ignoring" the community so much as just terrible communication skills.

It sounds like a not-very-good grunge band.

Seriously, I think there's pressure to be constantly marketing something, and what it actually is doesn't matter as much. The features that players would legit be excited about aren't ready yet, but PGI feel they have to announce something every week to maintain interest, so they give us MC off an essentially random selection of Mechs and stick a stupid name at the top. I'm totally fine with them not wasting any more time on it than necessary.
