I'd just like to point out that NO modern military anywhere, ever, would find a weapon system as unreliable as the UAC5 acceptable. It spends more time recovering from a jam than it does firing.

What's with this topic suddenly getting brought back up again? I mean, I'm no fan of the UAC5 random jam rate, and way back in November I posted some possible changes they could make to the weapon (changes that would keep it as balanced as possible without making it the super-gun it used to be) over here: http://mwomercs.com/...ks-for-the-uac/

But I mean, since then I haven't heard a peep about UAC5's. Now 2 posts today? Weird.

Fun fact: The UAC/5 in double-tap mode is being pushed beyond it's stated tolerances, and was simply designed to function in single-fire mode. It's still superior.

If you hold down the trigger, you're doing the equivalent of slapping the override and then wondering why your 'Mech caught fire and melted.

I hate the uac5 mechanic.

But it is still one of the most powerful weapons in the game.

You just have to accept that sometimes it will jam constantly and you will miss great opportunities to put down enemy mechs... but then there are the 1,000+ damage games were it will rip everything to shreds.

If you don't like the lottery use ac5's, or go 1 of each (733c).

Take a jager with 3 uac. Put on chain fire. Will never jam.

So...the M16, used the wrong ammo initially and it wasn't kept properly cleaned...so yeah, it had issues, but it wasn't a design problem. The UAC/5 is just a horribly random armament. Most matches I get one or two rounds off, then I get to wait 10s or more for it to fire off another two shots before it jams again. Occasionally I get lucky and it only spends 20% of the time jammed instead of the usual 70%.

uac 5 is actually the best weapon for consistent dmg output imo. I almost always end round with 700 dmg when I use 2 uac 5

Its a high risk high reward kind of weapon. I wouldnt recommend as a stand alond weapon but with 2 or 3 u tear things up. It would be nice if they would implement a new jamming system but its PGI . . .

It's probably better than the L85.

No....its simply a high reward weapon.

What risk is here really? IT UN-JAMS ALL BY ITSELF. 500+ damage rounds are common without breaking much of a sweat, I just don't see any risk to using them. Only reward.

When I asked a similar question...

Seriously, its 31st century. We can't make a multi barreled weapon that doesn't jam? Didn't we fix this problem almost a millennium and a half ago?

I was told like this....

Welcome to the Succession Wars where we have bombed and battered civilization to the point that nearly everything is Lost Technology.

This means that though we still have Digital Clocks in the 31st century and can still make them (Thanks to blueprints and factories,) no one really understands how they work or why they work, just that it does. So changing that annoying buzz to be your favorite song instead is like asking a technician to change the color of the sky.
