I tried out g700 but had to send it back... the side buttons were awesome, the top 3 ones near mouse1 were somewhat hard to use. In the end I've sent it back for a refund - main reason being there was no support for the right side of my hand (ring and pinky fingers). I'm currently using my sidewinder x8 (which I already had to repair several times; not to happy about quality on this one, but I simply love how it fits my hand, and its the best wireless/on the fly charging system I've seen). Overall I'd recommend Logitech, as their support is simply legendary, if your mouse breaks within 3 years they'll send you a new one.

I'm using the Razer Naga Hex, not sure what you'd be paying for it but I got mine for $80. 5600dpi laser sensor. Runs extremely smoothly, which I find is more important for tracking targets in Mechwarrior 3 and 4. The six buttons on the side are much easier to use than the 12 on the regular Naga I find (I've currently got them set to my weapon groups). Also it's comfortable, which is something that a lot of companies don't pay enough attention to.

I would recommend from personal experience the Corsair M60 mouse (http://ncix.com/prod...facture=Corsair). It's a little pricier at $70 but well worth it. For one, I love the sniper button. It drops the DPI to a preset low setting to make it easier to snipe/precision aim, but if you don't like it, the driver simply allows you to reassign it at will. Next, there's a small vertical accelerometer in it to detect when you lift it off the table. At that point, it turns off the laser to avoid accidental tracking and turns it back on when you put it down. It may sound like a small as hell addition but it makes a huge difference that I've noticed in other games. The only couple of drawbacks though is that: One, the mouse is very new, meaning that Corsair is still working out some of the issues, including some that could potentially brick the mouse through a botched firmware upgrade. This however can be easily fixed, as Corsair has an awesome online community which is ready to jump in and help you at a moments notice. The other is that the mouse doesn't have nearly as many weight customization options in it as any Logitech would. All it has is three 5 gram (I think) weights that are placed in a triad formation around the bottom of the mouse. While they do make a difference, it is still not even close to the Logitech G9X

On a side note, I tried the Logitech G9X, and I didn't quite like it. I loved the idea of storing profiles on the mouse (used that quite a bit at university LAN parties), and the build quality was solid, but the changing outer shells seemed somewhat gimmicky, and after a while the satin texture shell would get gummed up with sweat from long sessions, making it an absolute joy to look at and clean in the morning.

If you want to spend about $50 and don't want a ton of buttons, the aforementioned Logitech G500 is probably perfect for you.

Seriously guys? Cyborgs ... Naga's ...

I don't have much money to spend.

I only have so many fingers ... so 13 buttons seems like a waste. What controls accuracy? I like the idea of being able to snipe so fine control is important to me.

Also it needs to have smooth and quick motion too.

What controls this on a mouse?

Rik

People are always intimidated by the Number of buttons the Naga has but it really isn't that bad. You have a button for every weapon group at your thumb and the 2 index buttons can be for IR and Night Vision and I use the #10 and 11 buttons to adjust my mouse sensitivity on the fly. Also, these are $80, I got mine for $50 Refurbished. So calm down a bit.......

I use a Logitech MX 518 an love it. I've had it for years. Its an older mouse so it might be hard to find. After looking at the bestbuy web site it looks like its been replaced with the G500. Here's a link
http://www.bestbuy.c...d=2861112&st=mx 518&cp=1&lp=6

That G600 looks like a good mouse also, either of these should do you good. Logitech has always made solid products. I have an older MX 510 on my other rig that still works perfectly an I've had that mouse ever sence they first came out.

As per usual, the G500 seems to be winning the recommendation war by a landslide, and it's for a reason. It's an absolutely fantastic mouse :D

It doesn't really break the bank, either. Amazon has them new for $50 after shipping.

In a nut shell:

-it's a perfect fit for the hand (okay, many mice are now... because they all borrowed the MX518 style design)

-a decent selection of buttons (again, like most mice these days)

-switchable weight

-switchable scroll so you get the clicky kind for gaming, and the nice smooth scroll for web browsing (I use this feature way more than I ever thought I would)

-five sensitivity adjustments, or basically way more than you'll ever need (you can pick between one and five)

-independent vertical and horizontal adjustment

-the least finicky sensor I've ever used; it's a lot more reliable than my G5 was in terms of never skipping a beat regardless of what I'm tracking on

I had two Logitech G5's pack in on me within a month or two of buying a few years back - In both cases the cable went. haven't bought an expensive mouse since.
Probably going to get something with about 5 or 6 buttons, recently I've discovered the joy of a semi-competent wireless mouse with a Logitech "donated" by my boss. :D

*EDIT* Liking the writeup on the G500 above.

I love my G9x so much that I bought a second for my other PC.

Pretty much anything gaming series for Logitech, Corsair, etc. is good, but it's all a matter of preference. What is comfortable and easier to use for one person could be a total waste of money for another. Size and grip play a huge factor. Some people like the Mad Catz RAT and other mice for their ability to tweak grip/size. I personally can't stand them. And many will swear by Razer mice, but again, I personally can't stand them.

So as long as you have the functionality you want (number of buttons, placement, wired/wireless, DPI, and any macro features), you just go with what feels best to you over a long session of gaming. The G9x works best for me because it's a very small mouse for use with wrist braces. By comparison the Logitech MX518 is a long mouse if you have larger/longer hands.

There's also a good competition going on now between Razer and Logitech for "MMO" mice with a ton of programmable thumb buttons. Personally that's probably too many buttons for me, but others swear by it.

I currently use the Logitech G700. It replaced my Razer Lachesis which I also liked until it decided to work intermittently. I have rather large hands and the G700 fits well allowing for fast movement without fear of the mouse changing position. It also has the benefit of being both wired and wireless. The SetPoint software used with the G700 also allows for a great deal of customization in macros, assignments and on-the-fly resolutions. The texture is similar to the Lachesis; a grippy (but not tacky), rubberized overcoat.

As a professional geek, I've worked with a LOT of different mice over the years on just about every type of game I can think of. So far, if you're talking pure "gaming" mice, then the Razer Naga is my current go-to. I've owned it for about 2 years and the only problems I've had despite DAILY use as a hardcore gamer is the right mouse button's a wee bit sticky. It's currently $79.99 at Best Buy for the wired version, and you might catch it on sale for a bit less depending on when you shop.

I switched from a SteelSeries WoW mouse purely because of the 12 number keys right at my thumb. Anything 7-12 is a bit awkward, but you get used to it surprisingly quickly. It fits my hand well, tracks very smoothly, and you can reassign those keys at will and macro them. For MW:O, that much control at your thumb might be overkill, but depending on what you assign for weapon groups and throttle controls it could make a difference. It may be a bit on the small side if you have large hands, but otherwise it'll be a great choice.

Most of the other mice recommended have quality reputations and are very good, but you have to look at where the buttons are. Most gaming mice are designed for right-handed use, which means anything on the right side of the mouse is going to be poked at with the ring finger and pinky. Which, I've found, gets awkward fast. Really, the stuff you use the most will be pressed with your thumb and index finger.

If you don't care about "lots of buttons" and just want a good solid mouse? Logitech is good, but you can get a good Microsoft wireless mouse for about $30 at Best Buy. I bought one for my first laptop? It outlived the laptop. I bought another one after losing the wireless sensor for the first? It's going to outlive my SECOND laptop. And I've had that laptop almost 4 years. Good battery life, great control... You won't go wrong with them.

I'm using a Cyborg RAT3 with my Laptop, and a RAT5 on my desktop. The RAT3 cost me a princely GBP£20, and the RAT5 was GBP£40. Both great mice. Better build quality than the Razer, but not as well thought of. I liked the RAT3 enough to buy a RAT5!

I have used a Mionix Siaph 1800 for a couple of years now and I love it. Never had any problems with it. Unfortunately they are no longer sold but I would recommend that you try their replacement model the Mionix Naos 3200. About $55 and you get a lot of mouse for your money in my experience.
