In the command chair post http://mwomercs.com/...0089-breakdown/ at the bottom of the page, there is mention of an Advanced AMS Tier 1 new style module. The description says that it makes a 30 meter cloud for 5 sec which destroys any missiles that enter it at a decreasing chance. 100% 1st sec, 80% 2nd sec and so forth chance of destruciton.

For 6LRM5 style play this sounds balanced. Use up the module on the first wave of 5 and each wave after that will have a smaller chance of being shot down and a smaller chance of landing due to maneuvering. Still, if normal AMS applies on top of this the new and old ways will complement eachother allowing virtually no missiles to land.

However as a 2LRM20 mech, a 100% kill rate to my first volly is an incredable amout of negation since with arty I'd wager that half of my missiles easily fall within a 30m wide spread. Add AMS to that and next to nothing gets through still.

Will this new module releave pressure on large single volly's to balance them with multiple small vollys?
Will this module just nerf missiles into oblivion?
So far there are numerous ways to counter missiles and as many ways to partially uncounter them making missiles less and less useful or restricted to boating. Do other weapon types deserve a direct counter?

Reread that post. That is not scheduled for the 4th but TBD several months out if at all.
