We could set up a league and track battles and such in SC for being able to attack planets in MWO. MWO will have private matches and SC seems like it's going to be very sandbox. Wouldn't it be cool if we combined the two and had a huge IS map and rules for a league that racked stats and win cross-game? What do you guys think?
Please keep your "PGI sucks" to yourself. This isn't about PGI or any other such drivel. This is about using two separate games to build a more robust Btech universe.
Obviously the units in SC aren't the same units we would have in Btech but we could still make adjustments.

lol I'm just saying we as a community could make this universe much larger simply by tracking out of game stats. I'm sure every unit has players that are going to be playing SC when it becomes functional. So we could have Marik set up as a unit there and set up an external map to use in private leagues that would track wins in certain space to be able to drop on planets and such. I can't lie, I like the idea of SC because I have played a good space fighter sim since the x-wing and wing commander games.

Just busting your chops...
Back in the day, I was party to a group of people who did something very similar with B-17 Flying Fortress II and Steel Beasts
Lot of fun but a lot of it was based on the honor system... which over time lead to a lot of hate and discontent as it reached a point where there was inherent distrust.

Well as with any player run league there'd have to be rule sets, governing bodies, etc. but I think it could be interesting.

Actually, apart from the buy-in from SC this is a rather brilliant idea. It'd be a beautiful cross population and you could have warriors and pilots that, if they choose to, could focus on one side or the other.

There are already people planning full on BT servers, which gives a very high probability of SC ships and modded SC ships being used as dropships, transports, and aerospace support. There are some seriously effin talented modders in the community too.
At the same time we were playing 'pimp my mech', the CIG was putting together their own community modding contest, called the Next Great Starship, which >200 entrants were reduced to 24 teams and the winning teams ship will become one of the ships in SC, and so far most of the entries are rather stunning. It's amazing what comes out of modding communities that are left to their own devices, but when they are encouraged and provided tools...
Prizes and sponsors list impressive.

If private servers use MWO assets without permission, I would expect some rather significant fallout. CIG will not create a product that let's people wholesale rip off IP from another title.
I would love for PGI and CIG to collaborate on something like this though. It can only make both games stronger.
The Next Great Starship project is a wonderful thing. I toyed with doing this (even got a team set up), but real life commitments and the level of talent we were competing against made it not very feasible. But man, some of those weapons they made were incredible!

Sc and MWO would be separate games but what happened in SC matches and tracking would affect what we could do in MWO. If you want to attack Planet A, then you use ships in SC to move across the map, fight off defenses, etc. in order to get in range to drop on that planet.
Resources collected via mining (or however SC will work their currencies) could be tracked on the website with the I.S. map to determine drop weights, mechs, planetary worth, etc.
I'm not suggesting everyone run out and buy SC but if other units are anything like Marik's there will be players who play SC as well and might even play it more than MWO. So we already have players that are involved in both games. It would take some work and planning but if we could build entire leagues around MW2 and MC then surely we, as a community, could do something similar with these two games?

I would actually recommend the Proxis or other leagues that are currently set up for MWO. It could be a natural extension to their existing work, instead of having to create something from scratch.
The player pool for this might be pretty small though. You'd have to find active members that play both MWO and SC, and that may be tough.

For me at least it is going to probably be quite some time after SC gets released before I get a chance to play it.

Not really. Just players that are willing to participate. Even if you only want to play one game or the other. I can play MWO, you can play SC and still participate. I jsut know there's players in Marik that will play both or one or the other and it might be a way to combine everythign
