It's back to being non-functional again. :P

I'm having to lead lasers to varying degrees to get some sort of hit registration.

Like the good old days where if you weren't in the Americas then it was Streaks\LRM's or nothing.

Please make HSR an imperative to fix as to us 'rest of the world' it pretty much is a game breaker.

Their servers are in Canada though.

What if I told you that Canada is also in North America, and thus part of the Americas?

Doesn't really matter to the players living in the Pacific though. :(

Pretty sure the players in the Pacific, same as SEA, experience such high ping times because there is no good internet link between there and NA. They have to go the long way round. So yeah, it matters. As the OP said. All on the same page, yet?

We actually have great internet.. In fact South East Asia region has the fastest home Internet speeds in the world.. On a 150M fibre link myself.

Now here is how it goes.. Canada being parts of the Americas doesn't matter to this topic because.....
The primary reason why latency from the SEA and Pacific region is bad is due to the sheer distance us to Canada (where the game servers are located).
It doesn't help the fact the that we probably have to transit the USA to reach Canada. There is no direct link.

PGI claims that HSR would would compensate for latency up to 350ms, if i recall correctly.
OP claims he is having issues... To me HSR was often bad most of the time anyway especially for hit-scan weapons like lasers for me.
I would be really sad if it got worst.

Now care to add something on topic ?

I have always had to lead with lasers
except during the golden age of HSR when it worked perfectly
(Golden Age HSR >> After Ballistic and laser HSR introduction but before missle HSR introduction).

My experience was a lot better Host State Rewind application since the patches went in...

Case in point was running in games with average 280 ping but managed to Kill

1) 1 Commando
2) 2 Cicada
3) 1 Jenner

They rushed our lance which was 1 Raven, 1 ASDF(myself) and 1 BG1D

We won after 5 minutes of intense brawling within 300 meters combat radius...

So I havent experience any decay like the others so far.... Goood Luck all

It is worse after patch, it feels like some weapons do at best half damage and that is if they register, and i am sure i can hit Atlas from 100 meters.

Maybe ECM now reduces damage as well?

I started a similar thread, but I've noticed it more with ballistics. I've shot at motionless targets dead on with an AC20 from around 100 meters, it looks like the shot hit them square in the torso, but no damage is registered. Alternatively, I've had some shots appear to go over the head of my target, yet my reticle turns red and damage is registered. I did not have these problems often at all until 2/4/14.

You should read one of the Devs posts recently about 'Hit effect's being client authoritative...
Just means the MWO client is showing us lies... What the server think it sees is what REALLY matters...
Soooooo.. Apparently doing other wise is going to cause latency to hit effects which is apparently.. 'Low priority'...

What does it matter to us ??? Hmmmmmm.. Confusion ! Because we can never really tell what hit and didn't hit because we don't see what the server sees...

Here... Under Hit Reg topic..
Hiaz..

I did read that, so I know about it. What I'm confused about is why it is now worse. Matthew Craig's post said nothing about them making any changes to that system, so why should it now be worse?

Ohhhh wait.. I remember reading something else.. That might be significant.
Ahhh it was one the same POST !

Silly things like this could certain affect our gaming experience as well.. Let's see what magic they pull post Feb 18th...

Server Performance

Something that may help this to a degree is that we've recently dug deep into the CryNetwork layer and fixed up some network congestion issues that were at times becoming bad enough to bring the server to a halt, this is experienced as a game where all Mechs walk in place and then everyone quits.

These issues have been addressed and will hopefully help the servers to behave much better in the general case, these updates are due to release in the Feb 18th patch. Hopefully this will make everyone’s games that much smoother and reduce the number of badly lagging games noticeably.

I can't see how it is that. That applies to the game crashes where everyone quits, I'm talking about the extremely poor hit registration that appears as direct hits on my side since UI 2.0

My damage dealt has dropped to between an half or third depending on load out to what I was regularly dealing pre-patch.

That is when I started testing weapons in game and noticed that I wasn't getting hit reg i.e red crosshairs for direct hits and leading very close range targets would get hit flashes, but nothing like the solid scores from before.

I'll drop again now and test some more but it pretty much a game breaker for now. I tolerated it in closed beta but I can't go back, not after playing semi-normal compared to sub 100 pingers. (I have average 280)

I've noticed the same thing, suddenly having to lead with lasers when I didn't noticeably have to before, used to have no issues with Jenners, now having to guess where they are. Odd thing to break but something definitely changed.

To me it simple state that they server are not doing too well. Stating that the cryengine network layer is getting over loaded.
I am not stating for certain.. Gaming server in an unhealthy state does not sound good for gaming experience...
HSR is all based on calculations...

Anyway.. I been playing an pure lasers Ember tonight.... Can feel the HSR is ain't working as it should.
Let's see post Feb 18th server patches does something about this.
