He is LEET.

That means he has other people to stroke him, Noob!.

Unfortunately I'm still a lowly lower-case 'n' noob. Still a few more weeks till I graduate from Noob Academy and get the cherished capital N.

I hope PGI understands how terribly broken is their ELO system. Every day I read forum posts by stone-cold MWO gods who gun down noobs in huge numbers virtually every match. How is it that these unstoppable pros keep getting stuck in matches with all that lowly cannon-fodder? It boggles the mind.

I'm not even that good at this game, the purpose of the screenshots where to show my results with the mech. It's easy to get good results out of anything when you're playing a noob team that has no coordination, can't aim, and run around with their heads cut off. I don't really care what any of you think, make all the assumptions you want. Same reason I haven't been replying to bishop, his mind is made up. No point in arguing with someone who can't see past their own point of view, has poor comprehension, and is single minded. Mechs you do well with in pugs don't mean they will be good for competition.

I made this thread to get insight on the mech, was hoping from someone who drops twelves. Most of you douchebags made this a lets attack this guy because we have nothing better to do thread.

Lolz, pot calling the kettle black much? If your posts weren't so full of smarmy self assurance, maybe the rest of us wouldn't be giving you crap over it.

And I'd point out, you are the one who had made up his mind BEFORE buying the Ilya that it was essentially, casual pug trash.

Ahem, let me see:
"That's a waste of tonnage in a twelve man. So far I haven't been convinced that the Ilya is worth anything outside of pug games. Unless you play in a match that has JJ restrictions, even still, JM6-S."

"So much wrong in this, but no point in arguing. " (The wrong being that there is a world of difference between what happens and what works in the organized world of 12 man, and the generally utter chaos of PUGing.)

"Bought it, and so far I'm hating it. This is the best game I've had in it so far(pugging) but anyone can do well in any mech when playing with noobs." (Because PUG matches are purely the realm of Noobs)

"Anytime the enemy team is meta, the Ilya gets destroyed, because it's shit." (any time the enemy TEAM is running meta...because of course, it's not coordinated fire against a herd of cats that is the disparity...... sure. Go duel 1v1 with a 3D in your Ilya, and unless you let him snipe you over terrain, you have a better than even chance of beating him, unless you just can't build a decent Ilya)

"Same build I'm running, the Jager does it better trust me". (Nothing condescending to see here, move along.....)

Now who has a closed mind...someone who judges a chassis viability before they ever played it,and still have barely used it, or someone who has used it HUNDREDS of matches, but even acknowledged it was not an ideal 12 man Comp/Meta chassis?

Sparky, your world view is downright hilarious.

Um, ok. Sure. Shall we all pretend that you didn't start this thread to ego-stroke yourself? Because it sure seems logical to denigrate a mech (cuz, ya know, no Pro would touch one) and then post screenshots of matches in which you thoroughly dominated with it. Your problem is that you don't seem to realize how awfully transparent this is.

@Isp
I believe Victor Morson plays competitive 12 mans, and he speaks quite highly of the Ilya. I've also watched some of SJR's matches where they run a few UC/5 Ilyas as brawlers. Based on this, I imagine the Ilya has competitive potential, if that's where you're headed.

The other like four or so games I've played in it I've gotten owned. Anytime the enemy team is meta, the
Ilya gets destroyed, because it's shit. So far anyway, not even basic'd out yet.

TL;DR: I can't pilot a phract so phract sucks.

It's not the mech that sucks isp.

This is that scrub MwHighlander guy giving this thread a friendly PSA

The Phracts (Ilya and 3D most notably) are the best heavies in the game. If you think they're bad, thats your opinion.

If you do poorly in them, then that is the pilots fault. These mechs come with all the tools you need to succeed built right in, and have been at the epicenter of the player base's "Meta" since thier inception.

@ISP opinion =/= fact. Also, stroking your epeen is bad, m'kay? No one gives a flying **** about how well you do in STOMPY SPACE ROBUTS ONLINE: THE GAME. So please, continue telling us about how badly you stomp'd those worthless noobs. We're very interested, you know.

The main reason I like it is because its the onyl mech in game that does 3 LBX, 3 AC10, and 3 Guass. I use them all and love each build for different reasons.

I finally was graced in drop by our Noble Mechwarrior (his poor Elo must be taking a beating. So sad). On Alpine, he had a Skye Ranger pre-made with him.

Well, rather than mingle with a bunch of Noobs, they decide to go and "win the match" on their own, going over to the peak between the radio tower and the upper spawn base. Leaving our forces split.

Needless to say it didn't go particularly well for them, and by extension the rest of the "team". Me and my dropmate, Grog were literally the last 2 left, in Embers, against 8 Opfor Mechs. Grog had already netted a kill, and we saw the writing on the wall, so decided to try to divide the enemy and conquer (or at least not die too horribly, lol), stringing them around the Cap Points. Well, we lasted several minutes, and each added a kill, but when saddled with that much FAIL, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion.

I didn't come into this thread to "flame ISP", and hey, this is only one drop, maybe it was a total fluke, and usually they are really great guys and team players. But after all the arrogance and condescending posts on here, I really could care less anymore.

So, if that is the degree of coordination and teamwork and skills that his unit brings to 12 Man, please..... go back there and stop handicapping perfectly good PUGs!

I own all the phracts, except the Illya, the 1x was my first mech purchased and I still have it, though she is starting to collect dust.

The 3-D was the last I purchased. Between the purchase I'd fallen in love with all things Victor, and I still like that mech too. (I'm sure you are all just shocked)

Anyway I bought the 3-D to force myself to get good with gause, and in that I failed.. Just couldn't get consistent performance out of it. So I switched to a meta build, 2PPC, 2AC5 and a couple Medium Lasers because I could.

I expected performance similar to my AC20 Dual PPC Victor, however that has not been my experience.

The phract seems better. It feels like a combination of less attention from the enemy and better convergence.

So this is the question I guess, is there better convergence now with AC5 and PPC than the AC20?

massive projectile speed difference allows the other guy to move with the ac20, whereas the 5s are right there

Oh that was my 4x to a T, except I put a flamer in the CT so it was a fire-breathing monster. it has 2's and Ultras loaded atm, that also works pretty well.

Still the 3D has to be played to be believed. I rarely fire full rate on the 5's but if something closes those and the Mlas make short work of it.
