River city's new spawn points on either side of the river paralell makes for the most boring gameplay of any map. both sides just skirmish til one hits an advantage and charges across the water. There is no way to use cover or sneaky movement the way things are arrayed currently, with the turrets reinforcing this problem further. most boring map in the game.

Yeah the turrets have really done it, although my lance had a lot of success 2 games in a row yesterday just charging across the water in our Boom-Jagers and screwing up any turrets or mechs which got in our way.
The team followed pretty closely once they saw the first enemy mech go down each time.
But this only works if you have the right lance build and are on coms together.

Funny thing about that. Before the new spawn points, people complained that the map almost always resulted in a counter-clockwise cap race, with both teams circling the edges of the map and largely avoiding each other.
PGI really can't win, can they?

Or expand the map and modifying the spawn points. Nothing wrong with refining the product.

Meh. Don't get me wrong, I got my highest MWO score to date in River City, and also my personal best number of kills. I brought down my first Atlas on that map. It will always hold a special place for me. That said, I'd rather get new maps than have PGI spend too much time expanding the old ones we already have. Maybe they could tweak the spawn points, though.

River City + 24 mechs is TOOOOOOOO small. There is no balance/gimick/gamemode you can pick to save this map.
This and a couple other maps should still be 8vs8 ONLY, or make the map bigger.

There are two options (1) make it bigger, four times the size, and give us a real urban environment to fight in or (2) just accept that it is a small map and that it will produce shorter fights that are over sooner rather than later. Given that there are larger maps I'm OK with it being small but would quite like to see a larger urban map too.
