They fixed the light lagshield so they don't dominate as much anymore. This isn't really that gamebreaking, but people now like to complain about poptarting with PPCs. 3PV wasn't as devastating as people thought it would be. The game is glitchy and buggy as hell. Not as, but still enough that you will bug out every 8 games or so.

No, this isn't true. I can't remember the last time my client crashed. Probably closer to a year ago.

Of course, if your computer is riddled with porn and spyware, you may have stability issues. But PGI really can't control your personal activities now, can they?

I wanted to check on MWO again after a year, mostly out of curiosity (and a possibility it might die soon). The launcher wants me to download unforeseeable multitude of gigabytes in 44 updates so I thought I'll check here for state of things 1st. (to prevent DLading for a day and then getting pi**ed in 1st match just like year ago :D So can you tell me kindly if anything got better or worse in the time ? Like: Is this still LightWarrior (and nobody can even think of winning against Jenner whos happily rubber-banding around) ? Or is there a new flavor-of-the-month hack(s) that makes game miserable for most people ? Is the (infamous) 3PV abused a lot ? Is it still possible to have a good game in 1PV while not being a MWO pro ? Bugs or glitches in the game ? Is it still as slow as it was year ago ? Thanks a lot for info / warnings

Jenners are easy to hit now, but Spiders are ridiculous due to crazy maneuverability, minor lagshield, and screwy hitboxes. Thanksfully, they don't have the firepower of a Jenner. The new Firestarter does, though, and it has really forgiving hitboxes like the Spider. SSSRM-boating lights can still abuse cockpit rock, though.

No new hacks per se, high alpha meta has shifted to 2xPPCs + 2xAC/5s. It combines high alpha sniping with low heat and good DPS at close ranges. Jump sniping has been un-nerfed to the point of being a convenient low-rsik EZ-Mode again.

3PV is pretty bad, and most people don't even use it to peek over ridges. Some new players use it and I feel bad for them, because it's so bad.

I've been having a few CTDs lately, not sure why. New patch may have fixed some, haven't had a chance to try.

Overall, MWO is worth coming back for a look at this point.

We just had our first patch post-UI2.0, decent one for a "filler" in between major features. Some interesting stuff (Firestarter, balance changes with more coming, starter bundles at last), some necessary stuff (bug fixes, mech validity widget in UI2.0), and the usual disappointments (delay of the Griffin release, UI2.0 still a mess, no real discussion of either).

I was basically watching this patch to see just how much work went into it, because PGI's excuse for their development pace has been the UI1.5 backend architecture. Seeing what was in the patch, I'm inclined to believe them and keep waiting.

The amount of content in this patch plus the fact that they haven't blinked at all on the other upcoming dates (DX11, Achievements, Smurfy-vision, Launch module) also leads me to believe that UI 2.0 did free up a lot of resources for them. I think March 4th is going to be a significant patch as well.

"Well I don't have this problem, so it must not exist! You're just a dumbass/pervert who doesn't know how computers work." Yeah, **** you too bud. The smugness of people who think like this is mind-boggling. I don't have spyware and I don't browse porn sites, sketchy or otherwise (and even if I did, what virus do you know of that would have this effect?); my computer has an Nvidia GTX 660Ti, 4GB of RAM, and a 3rd gen Intel Core i3, not top-of-the-line, but not a toaster or outdated; I update Windows and my graphics drivers regularly; I play the game on the "Low" setting, which makes it look like crap; I still get various and sundry crashes after a few hours of play. Don't try to tell me that this is my fault.

Alternatively.....

"I am having this problem so it must be there for a lot of people and it is all the developers fault!"

Which is more how the OP Heffay was quoting came across.

....Seriously might want to look at how you give your feedback people.

Seeing as I know my system better than he does, and seeing as people complain about crashes all the time, it's not an unreasonable assumption that yes, it is the developer's fault. While we're tone policing, maybe heff could refrain from talking down to people he knows nothing about?

Hypocrisy much?

That sentence works as much against you as it does him.
I repeat:

Take a look at your posts from the perspective of someone receiving that "feedback"
(Why yes, those quotes do mean that I am mocking it)

Edit: for a moment of intelligence: If you have a problem and you "know" it is because of MWO itself - you put a ticket in with Support - you don't whine about it repeatedly on the forums.

I am making what I believe to be a valid, if unoriginal complaint about the game's stability, not directed at any one player. I am told (nonsensically) that, actually, any problems I am having with the game are because my computer is riddled with spyware and because I look at too much porn (it is implied that I am irresponible with my system and ignorant about computers in general.) I lose what little natural cool God has given me and reciprocate the implicit "**** you" in the post of the Legendary Founder, who surely only wished to educate the poor stupid newbie on the very simple steps that need to be taken to get the game to run beautifully. I am told that this means I am not polite enough.

**** you too too.

What you ARE doing is complaining without actually giving feedback or useful information.

The game is giving you problems - but you give NO USEFUL information about what kind of problems.
You mock those who have TRIED to point out that, while yes, we know you are having a problem (or at least claiming to have a problem - the more you rage and whine, the less I believe you) you are not giving us any reason or ABILITY to help you solve it.
Could Heffay have been more polite? Definitely - but that goes both ways.
Next time try offering some courtesy before you demand it.

Welcome to the ignore list

Or as you so "eloquently" put it:

Or as you so "eloquently" put it:

I wasn't "asking" for "help" -- Indeed I am almost sure that neither you nor Heff is "qualified" to give it. The "OP" in this "thread" asked about the state of the "game," and I provided an accurate account, for which I was summarily "shat" on.

But of course it's much more likely that I was "fabricating" my "complaints" out of some inexplicable desire to "destroy" or "denigrate" MWO. If only I had the "intellectual" dishonesty to "ignore" any and everything that challenges "my" worldview.

Amazing how just many people seem to fail to realize what "Ignore" means.

On the other hand since the bulk of humanity seems to believe they can figure out what words mean through the context... to the point of outright (and frequently!) telling me that the Dictionary (the book that supposedly contains the agreed upon definitions of the words) is wrong!

It is amazing we can communicate at all!

....oh wait, this would be a perfect (IE: ideal, precise, exact.....) example of just that not happening.

Amazing how some people think using the vague label "some people" to passive-aggressively defend their pride/e-peen constitutes "ignoring."

Respond to me directly Shar Wolf, Overlord, Alaskan, and professed afficianado of "thinking."

Why do people - who have been informed that I am not - and indeed CANNOT anymore read their posts keep quoting me?

Perhaps because this is the internet and thus they MUST be right?

Try wearing pants next time - it prevents a LOT of butthurt.

Am I still upset that a game with a lot of potential is mediocre at best because of a combination of a lack of resources and poor decisions made by the people in charge? Yeah, of course I am. I've been upset since I started playing and I will continue to be so as this game undergoes heatdeath.

...bet I don't even have to read it to know what he posted:

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU CANNOT READ IT? JUST CLICK IT AND OPEN IT!"
or
"HOW DARE YOU!!1111!"

....how close was I?

BTW" OPENING a post of someone I have put on ignore, would be about as stupid as leaving feedback about how the game crashes for you - with no info on the crash AT ALL - then complaining about not needing or wanting help with the cra........ OH WAIT.
