Champion 'mechs: Continuing to be pointless.

I have so much XP backlogged on my mechs this will help for all of two days.

At least it's a slightly less confusing way of getting GXP with 'Mech bucks than converting XP.
( No, seriously, I have no clue how you'd even begin to convert XP to GXP with MC given this new interface. The only reason I know that's a thing we can do is because I was around pre UI 2.0.) That said, how much XP would you have to grind out on a champion stalker before it became a more MC efficient way of getting GXP than converting directly? Like a billion? Shit, now I have to go play frog fractions.

Just a hint, swap one ML for a TAG. Missile boats like TAG.

It has a tag already?

I really want to buy this mech. But without the camo or colors? That seems crappy...

IMHO Champion Mechs are a good way of getting at XL Engines for a decent price and most of them aren't even half bad.
This baby is a nice LRM-Boat.

I know that these are already on sale but I have some constructive comments on the build used and my suggestion considering new players while keeping with the main design premises (based off of my 3H). It suffers from ghost heat which is fine for experienced players but in an already hot mech designed for new players, this must be communicated clearly.: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...e2ae8dbce56b45a

-Swap the 310XL for the stock engine (STD255). Yes, it is very slow but fine as a missile boat.
-Add BAP, an ECM mech will completely neuter the current build.
-Reconfigure the armour values, full leg armour is a waste. (I run 6/8/6 on the rear torsos but new players might need more)
-Move the TAG to the arm for better reach.

I think that this would be a better Champion 3F. Teaches Ghost Heat mechanic simply. Easy to use, deadly at all ranges.

Or, my long time favourite 3F build. Loads of fun and decent all-rounder

Whenever you decide on a Champion build, consider its ease of use as a trial mech and functional viability. Unfortunately, this Champion Stalker will get focused down hard as a free kill (XL Stalker, really?)

Performance test of the Champion trial. Possibly some things that a new or experienced player could pick up on.
Two matches with commentary. One in a large map, one on the smallest map.

I would like to petition for this gentleman to be paid to make Video Mech Tutorials for this game. This is heads and tails better than what PGI has produced.

Thank you. o.o; But PGI gets better software to do it and admittedly as a tutorial it could've been done much better. (Though I have been planning on doing real tutorials when I have time). Being paid... that'd be so nice.

Speaking of which does anyone have or know of video editing software (that's cheap) that'd be able to do overlays of images with transparencies (or even images of keyboard and mouse buttons with alpha layers?)

I think Champ mechs are great for new players who aren't adverse to spending real money. The latest Stalker notwithstanding, they tend to come with decent loadouts as well as most of the C-Bill expensive upgrades like DHS and Endo.

Because no one in the history of the universe has said "Gee, I sure wish I could buy an XL310 with 'Mech bucks."
Anywhere. Ever.

Actually the 310XL is a pretty nice engine for some mechs that max at 310 or 315 and I've had it slot in on a few builds I've done that ended up really tight on both slots and tonnage.

Well no, unless it's the TRIAL MECH, which means the newbie/player has no choice.

This Stalker is a bloody disaster and Piranha should feel terrible over inflicting it on new players. Champion 'Mechs are supposed to come with good loadouts, or at least loadouts that don't actively smack their players across the jowls! Do you have any idea how many rampant rookies I've seen in this game in a trial Stalker shutting themselves down left and right by group-firing those fraggin' missile launchers?

It's gotten to the point where I honestly feel bad for shooting the damn things. There are so much better ways to do fire support Stalkers! And seriously, if there's one 'Mech in this game that just can not deal with harboring an XL engine in it...it's the Atlas. But if there's two of those 'Mechs, AND THERE ARE, the second one is the Stalker!

Shame on you, Piranha! I like champion 'Mechs as a general rule, they're a perfect fit in their intended role as excellent starter machines...except for this pile of garbage!
