When I imagine playing MWO, I most often visualize scouting recon in a Jenner, or maybe a Cicada.

Very much my situation. That and the as other posters have said in this and other threads, it just seems like the Cat is a nice versitile mech that I can sit in back and plink with. We'll see of course. I'm honestly more in it for the $80 worth of in-game currency.

Got myself a Hunchie. Will probably be swapping the AC20 for an AC10 + 2 extra medium lasers at some point.

Jenner all the way, I rather take my heavy scout (which I'll be playing a lot) rather than having a heavy/assault mech which I would play later on...

Couldn't choose, went all of them. Though, I've never been a fan of the Atlas... not sure why.

Catapult. It was a close one for me between the Jenner and Catapult. I ended up picking the Catapult since I figured it would be cheaper to buy the jenner later.

Shortly after I bought that, my wife gave me the go ahead to upgrade and get the legendary. I liked the idea of having 4 mechs with permanant boosts, on top of the 4 regular mech bays.

Hunchie, it is all about the AC20, also while I used it often in MW4 I never used the others in any game (well the catapault on the odd occassion when had nothing else of comparable weight).

I was Elite with the Catapult as i love being fire support, but then i was doublecharged up to Legendary, and cant be bothered to change it back

I got all four mechs, but I really just got the legendary pack because now I can brag about being, wait for it... "LEGENDARY!"
Imagine the unreal tournament announcer when you read that, it really helps.
