doesn't mean it's the next one persay but it's in the pipeline. remember when the kintaro came up, that was unexpected, so who really knows.

On past timelines, concept art = 3 / 4 months away.
But you're right, it will be what it will be.

Also a lot of people here are speculating different ideas for the KGC arms, but couldn't the design just do the same as the VTR-9B/9S and HGN-733C arms, giving the AC20s limited movement?

Emperor: 3rd non-Hero variant in 3069 (and requires IS RAC/5s)
Nightstar:3rd non-Hero variant in 3065 (and requires an IS UAC/20 and an IS LB 20-X)
So, the chances of seeing any of those in-game in the near future are basically non-existent.
thanks for answering. Now I know, how to find out variants' release dates.

But still I'm not convinced. The reason is Mauler. Even considering that MWo is moving forward in timeline for a year, this mech has just two variants released in 3048 and 3051. Despite this fact Mauler is confirmed to be in the game. Thoughts?

Like others have mentioned, I think the first Mauler-related production run, the Daboku, might be the third variant.
EDIT: After a quick Google search, I found that Daboku means "Bruise" in Japanese. Maybe "Bruiser"?

I meant ingame thoughts. PGI has to sell new mechs. If they release a mech which has nothing to offer, no one is gonna buy it. By saying "something to offer" I mean:
1. ability to offer new loadout or/and new tonnage
2. new fighting abilities, like more convenient positioning of weapon hardpoints, ability to equip jump-jets or ECM etc.
3. To be an iconic 'mech
Developers are to keep this evolution of chassis becoming better and better. If you start thinking among these lines, there won't be many mechs left to be in the game. Brightest example is Charger. I don't see what this 'mech can offer to MWo players after ORION, AWESOME and VICTOR.
That's why I thought that Mauler was quite a logical choice as upcoming assault 'mech. It has ability to carry 4 AC/5 in it's arms, but it does not have jump-jets and it's quite broad. This combination makes him able to hit hard but die easily. And Mauler is a popular mech. Now, when we know it's gonna be in the game, the only thing I can think of is a Cyclops, because it can be equipped with 2 Gauss rifles.

The way you posed the question made me think you were wondering about how they'd put a two-variant 'mech into the game with their established 3+ 'mech variant skill system.
In addition to the Mauler, I'm waiting to see if the MAL-C Mauler comes along with an implementation of the C3 computer system.

actually, me too. If implemented in the game, Katana is going to become first 85-ton mech with jump-jets. Kinda humanoid Misery with jump-jets.

But I guess with MWO if they have to release another assault I'd rather they do something completely new that we haven't seen in previous iterations. So I hope for an Imp, Banshee, Hatamoto, especially a Nightstar or Pillager. We don't have a bird-legged assault yet to do we? So a King Crab or Nightstar would be awesome.
- OR -
I want this awesome 100 ton assault mech called CON- T3nT
The Content is a 3050 mech with many variants and features that include:
- many working and balanced fixed and debugged weapons and hard points
- a unique and robust communications system
- a slick ergonomical UI that is not counter-intuitive, all over the screen or clunky
- no joystick conflicts with KB or non-default key bindings
- no virtual memory crashes
- more game modes like asymetrical attack/defend, take & hold,
- Phase 1 and a ETA on Phase 2 of CW
(You know, all that awesome that was discussed in Brian's presentation that is expected to come after UI 2.0)

As a point-of-fact, the only Mauler variant that carries ballistic weapons in its arms is the MAL-3R (available in 3062).
Even the Daboku and the non-canonical Linesman follow the same pattern as the majority of Mauler variants: carrying their ballistic hardpoints in the side-torsos (together with the missile launchers) while the arms are reserved for energy weapons.
Though, variants could be distinguished by actual hardpoint allocations, such as something similar to this proposal by Odanan.

Also, the dual-Gauss Cyclops variant, the CP-11-B, appears in 3071.

The Mauler can equip 4 ballistics in its side torsos.
And the Cyclops variant with 2 Gauss is far away in the timeline.
