I'm a recent addition to MWO and I am really confused about the Camo Specs, is there a thread where I can read all about it?

Colors purchased with MC are yours permanently. You can use them on any 'Mech.
Patterns have two versions:
"Single use" -- Purchased for that one particular 'Mech only. If you buy a different pattern for it or return to the Default pattern, the single use one is lost.
"Unlock" -- Purchased for that chassis permanently. Any variants you have of that chassis can use the pattern, even ones you buy later. You can use a different pattern and come back to it later if you want. Note: does not work on special 'Mechs like Phoenix, Founders, Sarah's 'Mech, or the bonused Clan variants from the Clan packages.

Also note, the current UI2.0 setup for camo is a bit hard to figure out.
Generally, you pick a pattern and it sets up to 3 channels. Each channel must have a color, and you can put the same color in multiple channels. If you ever want to revert to the base color, there should be a toggle for each channel to swap back and forth between current color and base color.
Some patterns have special colors that come with them when you unlock them, others do not.
There are a few c-bill colors, typically dull basic colors that don't really "pop" all that much. Every other color is either unlocked via code/pattern/bonus reward, or purchased via MC.
Hero mechs and other unique patterns (Founder, Phoenix, etc.) have their own permanent pattern with unique base colors that can only be used on that mech. You may swap those colors for other owned colors, and can switch back to the base colors using the aforementioned toggle.

Just want to emphasise that a unlock camo is only for the chassis, not for all mechs.
For example if you buy the tiger camo unlock for one of your 3 Catapults, you can use it on all 3 and switch with default or other camos how often you want.
But you cannot use the unlock for your other mechs, like your jenners or whatever you have.
So in the end it is cheaper to just use onetime camo, even if you change it one or two times. There are just too few variants (mostly only 3) per mech to pay the mc for an unlock camo.
