This was mentioned by one of my unit members the other night on TS. I wish I could remember who, to give them the credit.

A grappling hook or magnet. I couldn't find a video but in the TV show Enterprise they had a grappler rather than a tractor beam. It came in handy a few times throughout the show.

I would even accept this as a consumable.

Anybody with visions of lightmech roundups ;) I'll hold'em down while you slowly dismember  Or if you are equiiped with hands you could tickle them to death  (pet Stalkers like it) :)

Definately make them think a little harder before getting on your back and trying to naw your rear quarter off :D

Torso twist at a light, engage tractor beam, twist back the other way and flllllllling!

I'm entertained by the thought of the possibilites of tractor beams, but unless it comes in the form of Samus' grapple beam for me to toss spiders around, i do not want.

Well if all we want to do is tip mechs over then collisions should be good for that. Mind you taking down assaults is a little harder to do in a light, but I feel like that's OK.

I dunno, I'm not totally sold on gapple hooks yet ;)

UNLESSSSSSSS.....

We could grapple trees... use them as flails, or pull them into our HAND ACTUATORS that are TAKING UP SPACE. P.G.I..... @_____@

I don't believe we should stretch the imagination and blow physics out of the water by being able to fllllling a 35 ton mech thru the air. Though the visual did make me chuckle ;)

I was thinking more along the lines of being able to grab ahold of one so they can't get away. This of course would severely gimp your mobilty until you let go of it.

But once you got a hold of it 5 streaks should do the job efficiently

Keeping in mind the size and physics of these machines, lots of possibities can be done here. Hold an arm or a leg from bigger mech. Or if you in a light can hook on to a larger mech torso and throw of thier aim.

Sephlock, that would make for an interesting idea. Retrieving missing body parts? Can have a salvage mech running around picking them up and retuning them to base. More parts, more c-bills.

as an assault/heavy pilot, the idea of grappling lights is VERY appealing

Keep in mind Carn, trying to lasso a light mech should yank a heay or assault around a bit, affecting your mobilty. Like trying to fight a fish and land it. But if you have streaks or teamates they should go down quickly, like a club over the head.

Again this could give a light pilot an advantage in the same way.

Maybe an advanced version would be to send an electrical charge down the line to short out the opponents mech for a short time.

Taser gun FTW

The BattleMech Taser is exactly this, and is 3065-3067 tech. ;)
