I agree with what people are saying in that this is a good idea and a nice way to help newbs. However I also agree that there's improvements that can be made.
Bear in mind that colours are overpriced and as such have no intrinsic gameplay "value" so throwing in some colours would be nice as has been suggested. Perhaps you could also look at offering colour packs on their own or even discounts for multiple colour purchases in 1 transaction?
Also someone mentioned chassis packs that allow you to master said chassis which I also think is a great idea, not just for new players but for vets too. The time and cost requirements to master heavier chassis can be quite daunting for some.
Good start at least. You've almost tempted me into buying into the clans.

Starter Packs should include stuff a new player does not have access to early on (including stuff you need to unlock with GXP).

Actually these are great ideas and tbh I expect them to have something like this in the line somewhere down the road... maybe soonTM. I bet we'll see more packages with different contents pretty soonTM as the new UI supports those bundles pretty well. I remember color bundles and camo pattern/color bundles have been requested back in the days they released them.
Dunno if the UI supports things like that, but since this

It wasn't a problem to get some mechs to start with, but there wasn't enough cbills to properly upgrade them (my spending wasn't very smart either). Or god forbid if I want to try an XL engine, ha ha ha.
I sense something like FF/ES/DHS upgrades could be on offer as well, since they're quite expensive to start with.

- Agree that it should be 3 mechs to allow for easier mastery. Include the mechbays for these 3 mechs.
- Agree that there should be a time-limit from account creation (30 days sounds good, whoever suggested that). Or, perhaps, a one-per-account limit without a time restraint (wonder how many players would drop MC for a Griffin bundle that was cheap?)
- Fluff is fluff, and not helpful.
- There should be starter packs for literally every mech that has a champion version already out there.
- If you were so inclined, you could entice players with 'deluxe starter bundles' that included a hero mech.
- Included premium time is good, stick with that.

All the talk of a three chassis package is cool and all given the current state of the game, but honestly I'm just hoping they dump the requirement. It's a dumb and repetitive grind that offers little value. You pretty much have to do it and there is no personalization to it.
I really hope they move to more imaginative roll-based trees. Each mech can provide a bonus toward certain elements of those trees based on their loadout. For example, trees "Energy", "Ballistics", "Missiles", and "Electronics". Within those you could have little sub-paths that reward you for various play styles. I'd love to see more of an overall tree with sub-trees for specific chassis, so that if you run primarily, say, missile boats, much of that would benefit you in all mechs, but if you did so more often in a Catapult, you could receive overall XP under "Missiles", followed by additional...uh...CXP (chassis XP) for mech stuff (speed tweaks, maybe some weapon related tweaks based on your loadout, etc.). I'm sure there are a lot of ideas out there and probably holes in my lines of thinking, but all in all I'm just of the mind that the current skill tree setup is really unimaginative and I'd hate to continue supporting it.

Remove the fluff items and give them a (C)mech, Bay, 30 days prem and then you will have a deal. The Statue, Dice and Hula girl are ok items but they do nothing for the new player. I would replace them with colors and patterns. Perhaps the PC Gamer colors and the flame pattern. That way they can tweak out their mech a little.
