Hello all,

would like to know if below AWESOME build will somehow work?
Your improvements are welcome.

The Idea behind it was to have a LRM-Boat which can aggressively move with the crowd.
Similar seen in a game where our lance was followed by an LRM-AWS and he was pretty
succesfull with it.

(It is just about the build - not about the Awesome and his general flaws)

PS: LRM'S will be chainfired to lower the heat.

CAVEAT: Lots of missile boat experience, but never used the Awesome. Personally I'd recommend swapping out the LPLs for either standard or ER larges, then you have about 4 more tons to upgrade the engine for more speed or upgrade one or more of the launchers. At only 60 kph you may have a little trouble getting in position to use the pulses.

Thanks Lauliao.
Unfortunately there is no bigger engine for this AWESOME.

Do I need Artemis with LRM 10'S? Pulling out artemis would allow me to put in a Beagle active (which I guess is important) another DHS and more Ammo?

Same number of missiles with better cooling and no ghost heat.

Now with BAP

I've ran it like this quite a bit. AWS-8R-LRM50-2LL-Tag

Also with 2 LRM20's, BAP with ERLL's and more DHS.
...and another version with LRM60, BAP, without any energy weapons and a std engine.

Problem with it is until you master it you have just one module slot. For me I have better awareness and live longer with adv sensor range than I benefit with just Target Decay.

Thanks.

that 20/20 build sounds like a good alternative. Even though I am unsure if the 10's on chain won't do less heat....

@cygnus: doesnt that LRM 50 run hot as hell?
no big experience in LRM heat behaviour I must say...

10's on chain will do significantly less damage to AMS mech's. More than two AMS systems will render a 10 missile volley utterly useless. Whereas LRM40 will get through AMS pretty well, which is why I'm suggesting you go for the ALRM20 x2 build.

I tweaked it again to something I'd use:

ALRM50, sans ghost heat

You'll notice I had to drop one LRGPulse to a regular MLas. This is because I feel LRM boats packing more than 5(ish) tons of backup weaponry are going to be a lot less effective than otherwise. Look at it this way, two MLas will not deter any decent light. Maybe two LRGPulse might, but this mech is slow and easy to stay behind.
You might get better results by dropping the Mlas in the arm for an extra ton of ammo, but that's relatively inexpensive to try and after a few games you'll know if you need more ammo or more backup weaponry.

Going with two ERLL's might be better, but I've been toying with it and can't make it work on Smurfy. Always running out of slots, hence the odd mix of backup weapons on this build.

Another note on your original build. Sacrificing so much leg armour is very dangerous, especially whan you keep ammo there. You also had your left arm with a great deal more armour than necessary. On this mech it's just a shield, strip it of armour and only re-armour it if you have the spare tonnage. Imo.

Edit: This mech is really annoying. Usually one would spend any leftover tonnage on a bigger engine. But this is already at max, which I think LauLiao did not realise.

I would recommend this:

AWS-8R

LRM 10's are not making full use of the 15 tube launchers on the AWS-8R. If you're running w/ the lance getting your own locks and adding TAG, then your primary weapon system should be the LRMs. Especially with AMS around, you want large salvos.

This isn't like some builds that have a single LRM launcher for minor harassment. If you're going to be a LRM boat, you should do that as well as possible.

However, you still want to have SOMETHING to defend yourself with, hence my build still has two medium lasers.

If you want a mix of LRM and stron Energy loadout I suggest AWS-8T which can pack 2xLRM15 and heavy energy weapons in the arms. AWS-8R BEGS FOR GOING FULL BOAT!
And if you be really aggressive then AWS-8R with 4xSRM6+Artemis and some lazorz in the arm.
