I've endured this error quite a while now and I'm seriously getting sick of it! Why don't they get hold of this problem and solve it? It's not like this is a new problem. DAMNIT!!!!

Nah, this is an old bug as far back as I can remember.

Not even sure what causes it. Win 7 here btw, although I haven't had to deal with it for several patches now.

I have it too ,i running window 7 32 bit but somebody suggest that if i change to 64 bit.It might solve the problem.

(I ran fine until U.I2.0 hit though)

I was getting this error frequently, say about once every 5-9 matches, just after the Feb 4 UI2.0 patch. It seemed to happen the most when Terra Therma map came up. Then after the patch last Tuesday the game started to crash every 3-5 matches.
Was becoming unbearable and I dropped out from teaming with my guild because I didn't want to crash on them and leave them a man short on drops.

A guildmate suggested I try a full uninstall and reinstall of game, that possibly all of the patches over patches might be making the game increasingly unstable for me. So with his help and a handy tool called Revo-uninstaller, that's what I did. I still get the Memory Allocation Error but the frequency has gotten better and I can play somewhere between 18-20+ matches before it rears it's head.

Still, I would prefer if PGI took this issue seriously and fixed it altogether.
BTW, I run Win 7 Home 32bit

Also, would be nice if PGI tweaked this forum post setup and allowed me to type faster than a poker without missing letters.

Thanks for all the input, guys! I almost forgot that I really posted this thread (I was a little tipsy at the time...)

Well, I'm running an Intel Core2 Quad 2.66 Mhz with Win7 home premium 32 bit, 4GB RAM and a nVidia GeForce GT 240 with the newest drivers (installing the newest driver for this card is f'ing hell....)

I remember that I had some trouble with memory allocation last summer, but the repair tool fixed it quite good. Then UI 2.0 comes and it's bad again. I think it's a little better after the hotfix (can't confirm it though, because I didn't play that much in between), but nowhere close to the state of, say, fall 2013.

I just hope they can solve this problem.... I still like to play MWO, but it's a pain when the game doesn't let me....

Yeah, I already tried that twice last week.... forgot to mention it before. But as we say in Germany, all good things are three, so I might try it once more.

If the Problem happens again, Screen shot it and post it here. Also I would Check your Omicron.log in the root of MWO directory for clues on where the memory problem is happening.

For 32 bit users, there is a workaround but it may have adverse effects so b careful to leave the original line and add the line as indicated in this steps..

Windows support a switch option in BOOT.INI called the /3GB switch, which adjusts the way memory is allocated between the user and the operating system. By default, the split is fifty-fifty -- up to two gigabytes for the user and two for the operating system. The /3GB switch option sets those limits at three gigs maximum for the user and one gig for the operating system.

As the name implies, /3GB was originally meant to be used in systems that have 3 GB or more of RAM -- something that is no longer quite as rare as it used to be! However, even if you don't have 3 GB or more of memory, you can still use the /3GB switch successfully if you are running memory-hungry desktop applications. Photoshop, for instance, is infamous for staking out as much RAM as it can. With /3GB enabled, there's that much more memory that the application can use.

To add the /3GB switch as a separate boot option:
1-In My Computer | Properties | Advanced | Startup and Recovery, click Settings.

2-Click the Edit button under System Startup to edit the BOOT.INI file.

3-Find the current boot entry, which typically looks like this:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

4-Copy the line on step 3, from your own BOOT.INI not from this post, and paste it at the end of the BOOT.INI file as a second entry, and change the description and add the /3GB flag, something like this:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional 3GB Switch" /fastdetect /3GB
This lets you choose between a conventional boot entry and the /3GB boot entry. If something goes wrong when you use /3GB, you can always boot back into the original configuration.

5-Save and close BOOT.INI.

6-Click OK to close the Startup and Recovery panel.

7-Click Settings again, and in the "Default operating systems:" dropdown, choose the newly created boot entry with the /3GB switch.

8-Click OK to close everything. Reboot into the new profile.

This works for me

Is it getting worse? I tried to play just right now and ALL four matches I tried so far were disconnected....

Guess I should try what Igchy suggested, when I have the time... Sounds like it could work. Thanks a lot for the feedback, guys!

Tante Edith: Couldn't get the pics to show... I usually don't post pics in forums..... meh.

Super Edit: First two where on River City, last two on Crimson Strait. I just saw, that the numbers match... maybe thats a hint....
