I went for the Catapult and am planning to change it to an infighter varient. This is how I generally prefer to play. Most likely (if the configuration options are like MW4) I will change the LRM's for something like a pair of LBX10's along side 6 medium lasers, 6 heatsinks, 12 tonnes of Ferro Fibrous armour and speed set at 68 KPH.

the best value is the $60 version... the trouble with it is if you hate the mech you pick for your cbill boostr. legendary eliminates that initial concern.

*coughs* you´ll probably not be able to switch LRM´s for AC´s... and it will be "a little" different from mw4...

you bought a founders pack without even reading stuff up in the forums? well... good luck and fun anyway :D

I think the real question is how the whole F2P model will play out. If it is similiar to WoT then starting off with only 1 premium mech seems fine and not worth the extra $60.00. I'm sure we'll be able to purchase more premium mechs down the line.

I think the smart thing to do is to pick the type of mech you think you'll play the most and pick it with the Ellite option. I couldn't see dropping $120.00 for a game I may decide I don't want to play that much (but from what I've seen so far - I'll be playing alot!).

With matching Cbills and a premium multiplier you should be able to progress rather quickly -depending on how much you play.

Go with Ellite!

So the choice of mech is forced when you make the purchase? I was hoping it would be something redeemable at a later date - perhaps after some play-testing. Guess I'll wait on a beta entry... or if it gets close to due date, I suppose I'll just have to go with my gut and pick the catapult.

I want to keep some money set aside for a Razer Artemis... so I'll be skipping out on the legendary pack - it's Elite for me.

Hm Purple is currently out of stock. But i could offer Blood red, and rainbowdashcorps grey.
Hit me if you want them.

Both do sound quite enticing but I'll have to wait until I know what colour interior I am going with before I make any decisions. No point in blasting people to pieces if my colour schemes don't match up. That could be rather embarrassing ;-p

I expect going with the prime variants is a smart move really, absolutely no chance of anyone crying foul over people getting a variant you can only buy or something. Now I just have to keep wondering if I want to upgrade to legendary...

As to the Cata-C1, SRMs and energy weapons to taste should work handily in close. Four SRM-6s seem quite possible.

You get the mech and a garage slot for it also. From following the 'Paul answers founders questions' thread, I have learned that the legendary founder will start the game with 4 extra garage slots. I haven't seen firm info on what you will start the game with if you did not buy an elite or legendary pack, but I would assume you either get a stock mech from a limited selection or you get a small amount of C-bills with which to purchase a starter mech. I haven't seen it confirmed, but I am assuming Legendary and Elite buyers would get the standard starting stuff as well as their 'bonus' stuff.

No, not really. But, and this is a big but, 25% more C-Bills does not automatically equal 25% more C-Bills gain. Due to ammunition and repair cost, the actual net gain will be significantly larger (more like 35-40% I'd guess). And that's A LOT.

Me? I chose the Atlas. It's probably the least effective moneymaker of those four (I assume repair bills will be quite high), but I just love how that thing looks, and the 25% bonus should probably take care of that. (Catapult would've been cool as well, though I would have gone for a Centurion if it was part of Operation Inception.)

Wont work. You cant put Autocanons in Missel slots. YOU could however change the LRM for SRM

Not quite, the newsletter that went out today stated that the Founder's mechs will be based around the "Prime" variants of that mech:
Atlas - AS7-D
Catapult - CPLT-C1
Hunchback - HBK-4G
Jenner - JR7-D

Assuming that the non-Founder's mechs run standard variant, the main difference will be in starting loadout, with these alternate weps already being in the game, just not standard on non-Founders mechs.

For example, standard Atlas has an LRM-20, and AC/20, 4 Medium lasers, and an SRM-6 launcher.
The AS7-D variant runs an Ultra AC/20, Swarm compatible LRM-20s, Streak SRM-6 launchers, with an extra ton of autocannon ammo. The only weps unchanged are the 4 Med lasers.

Of course, the loadout info can be found on their respective Sarna pages.

The" AS7-D" IS the standard Inner Sphere variant, with the stock 3025 tech weapons. The variant you listed is the" AS7-D ( C )" which is the standard variant upgraded with clan tech.

Correckt. The PPC is the -K2 variant, which the Founders one will NOT be able to copy.

as far as i see you will have to "level" the mech. Until you unlock the different version of the Mech, in this case the PPC version, then you can upgrade the Founder mech to the 2ppc one.

AFAIK so dont nail me down for that one

No. The Founder mech will ALWAYS be the prime variant, this has been confirmed by Russ in his Q+A thread in the sticky.
You will NEVER have a founder -K2, that is a seperate, different mech.

It's been stated before, somewhere, but you get four empty mech bay slots, and you can choose ANY of the 10 available mechs at launch to play in (apparently two aren't quite ready yet). The Founder's mechs are "prime" variants (i.e. the same as if you chose that mech as your starter), and come with a free slot. The Founder's mechs are also completely customizable in the mechlab, just like a regular mech (within the constraints of the mech's tech tree), and they come with a permanent 25% c-bill booster, meaning they will make extra money every match, compared to their "standard" counterpart. Apparently, premium/Founder's mechs will be available in game also, but whether they are there at launch is anyone's speculation. my guess would be that they will be implemented a little farther down the road, but I could be wrong.
Apparently, the $80 of in-game money you get is a pretty substantial sum, according to Russ, enough to buy roughly 8-10 mechs (subject to change without notice), so all in all the founder's packs seem like REALLY good deals, at the moment.

Hey now, I'm onto you. I know what you used Mech salesmen are like. Always trying to push up the sale with extras that I don't really need. Plus it was a "Superlazor of doom" I was inquiring about. Not just some old regular Lazor of doom. Shame on you. That being said.... Does the Wackeldackel come in purple?
