That said, OF COURSE THE RELEASE OF THE CLAN MECHS WILL BE INITIALLY UNBALANCING!
When the Clans initially hit the IS, the IS was lost to stop them. It actually forced even the furthest Houses to stop their fighting and backstabbing and help those on the front lines. EVEN IF THEY WERE SWORN ENEMIES.
This is the spirit of things that I can see. I have made very few posts, yet, but I have read several and am a member of both MWOMercs and NGNG. From what I can tell, PGI is doing their best in a world of "I wanters" to make the game enjoyable for new players while keeping us "old-timer die hard, played Battletech for 28 years-ers" happy.
Because it is we old timers who will find a way to fork over cash to this latest incarnation to keep it going. Even if it is donating money for nothing!
That said, I loath meta builders. It is the reason why I usually do not play online games. But this is Battletech, I am going to spend money (whether it be buying or donating) to keep it going. I will find a way to non-meta build and kill meta's like they are paper dolls.
I have always favored the Clans since the original release of Way Of The Clans in the early 90's. So of course I consider myself a clanner and have already figured out that I can afford to buy at least an a la carte. (Hopefully Khan Package, just because I WANT TO SUPPORT THIS GAME) Gold Mech, no Gold Mech, it is all the same to me. I am more than likely not going to get the premium time, and several of the accessories bonuses as at the earliest, it will be the 5 March or April before I can afford to.
What I see in this post, and forgive the old man his frankness, is a bunch of non-Battletech people complaining because they just want. They do not know the world of the game and just want, or at least don't want others having. For those Battletech aficionado's, we should spend more time trying to teach the others about the 'in game world', instead of acting like butt hurt children over their ranting.
I know, not a good way for 'noob' to make friends, but as an a getting closer to 40 life-long fan of Battletech, I had to say it.
Several of the non-world players that actually take the time to come to forums will soon come to find me waxing long on this topic. So I will say this,
I am by no means an expert, but I do know much of the 'in world'. Friend me, don't friend me, either way, leave a post on my profile site and I will be more than happy to give you and answer regarding that world. I am especially looking forward to answering questions that I do not know the answers to, as this will increase my own knowledge as well once I have researched it out.
Anyone else out there that understands that all this started from three rulebooks with a setter story in the beginning of them, and have played that, will know what I am talking about.
For the this aint fair crowd, Yall need to understand that the start of the CW was not fair for the IS. Not for the first year and 2.7 months. (Yeah, I'm a Texan. ) If PGI is trying to stick to timeline, that is the way it is. After that the IS began to field their own varieties and came up with weapons specifically to deal with the clans. Then they became stronger, temporarily than the Clans. You do not here us Clanners complaining, do you?
