I recently tried playing this game again after a long break. I haven't been able to play all weekend due to work but I figured 5 hours would be long enough to win five matches for that CN9-A© right? It's not looking like it. Matches take >2 minutes to find and I've been playing for 2 of my five hours now and I haven't won a single match. Guess I'm not getting that shiny new mech they taunted me with. Seriously, whatever was I thinking.

Edit: UPDATE

Well, I figured I'd update this thread (not that most people would care anyway). I ended up being unable to get the required amount of victories in the few hours I had left to play. Now, to answer a few accusations that I am an awful player, My current KDR is over 3.0, my highest being 7.4 last year. I've played a lot more games solo over the last 6 months, hence the plummeting of that number. Now, I'm not saying KDR is the end all be all way to judge a players skill, but I have just over 3000 matches played and over 2300 of them are wins.

For whatever reason my signature isn't working, but I've been a part of The Templars MercGroup since early closed beta. I learned a lot and got extremely good at this game very quickly. But I Also learned within my first week that it's a team work based game, something that PUGs lack in large amounts. Which leads me to believe that I was just horrifically unlucky in whatever matchups I received during my futile attempt to take part in this bonus event by PGI.

Maybe next time =/

I play PUG matches and only PUG matches.

Got it in eight games. You're having abysmal luck, but it was definitely doable.

You should change the titel of your post.
"Winning 5 games is impossible for me who was only playing 2 hours of the 80."

I am doing PUG as well all the time. And my win/lose ratio is really not this good. Took me 10-12 matches. But saying its impossible for PUG is plain wrong and a lie.

As a PUG, it took me about 8 to 10 matches as well ( I didn't keep track, just guessing).

As a LONG time player and PUG my W/L ratio is just under 50% (W:1,308 / L:1,323). It's funny, out of 2,631 games, I'm only 15 games off from being a perfect 50/50 ratio.

As a PUG, even if you have a string of losses, in the long run you should come out about even. Odds wise, it's like flipping a coin between a win or a loss. A bit depressing actually because it makes me feel like I have little control over the outcome.

I won 5 matches in 7 PUG games. Not so difficult.

Dreamslave, don't listen to any of the naysayers or elites-in-their-own-minds, bud. You have another hour or so, I think. Hopefully, you'll come back and give us some good news, soon. It's not impossible, but if you're on the low end of your Elo bracket, which means you're fighting against Elo-superior MechWarrior's, it might take a bit longer.

I hope you'll be able to get in on the next challenge PGI puts up, if you are unable to complete this one.

I also had a difficult time PUG'n my way to 5 victories.
Took about 20 matches on Sunday night to get all my wins, but it's far from impossible.
(Annoyingly, I won 4 matches in a row while playing after work last night... Go figure).

Dreamslave, keep at it and you'll get your wins.
Just try not to focus on all the losses, they'll make you lose your cool and your focus.

Let us know if you get the CN9-A, we're all rooting for you...

LOL!!

Try winning a PUG match after everyone got their free CN9A, the server was flooded with the damn things it was not unusual to see upwards of 6 of the junkpiles on your team over the weekend. Talk about gimping your team... LOL

I hate to say it, but maybe you're that bad that you're dragging your teams down and that's why you can't win?

Nah, he is just having a string of bad luck. It's frustrating when you are trying to achieve something like the free Centurion. I have nights where I can't seem to win no matter what, then I have a day where I win almost every game I drop into.

Just the way things go when you live the PUG life.

Yea that is just bad luck. On Sat I lost 6 matches in a row. On Monday I won 10 out of 10 matches (some I though we lost but the team pulled them out). So some of it is just luck. Keep going at it and you will get you mech.

Junkpiles? I actually like it pretty well. Aside from a couple terrible matches with it that weren't on the "mech" but rather a combination of poor decision making myself and a poor team I'm averaging between 430 - 450 damage per match with it. And that's pretty good for me. Having six of the things on a team may clutch a team some, but a few shouldn't be bad.

I spent the entire weekend waiting for the home wireless to get better and it did not. Normally I do not play when it is junk but I could not pass this up so I tried anyway using the Trial Stalker several say is junk.

Won 5 of 7 matches, both losses on HPG Manifold, guess that map doesn't like the Trial. Hell I even made this.

Statistically you would have a good chance of winning five if you simply played 20 rounds and walked into a wall at full throttle for each one.

Hardly "IMPOSSIBLE"

I posted about this elsewhere, and I believe it demonstrates a significant problem with the matchmaker.

I played 4 different accounts through 5 victories, constants in these tests were playing as a PUG, playing on Random game mode, playing medium mechs, and of course my personal skill level.

Test 1 (this account) 6 games to complete.
Test 2 (brand new account, trial mechs) 9 games to complete.
Test 3 (~1.0 W/L) 15+ games to complete
Test 4 (sub 1.0 W/L) 15+ games to complete

================

What does it mean? Well to me it is traditional class struggle. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer, only in the case replace currency with Elo.

Theoretically the matches I played at the lower Elo level should have been more successful than the matches at the higher Elo level, since my personal impact on the match would be greater. But based on those results the matchmaker actually created easier games easier for my higher Elo account.

Inexplicably, the brand new account was the most ‘balanced’, although I suspect playing in a trial mech is a great equalizer.

Getting my Centurion wasn't too hard, though I started earlier. It took about 10 games, maybe a bit less.

But getting one with a friend of mine... oh, heavens. I don't know what it was, but Sunday evening was just terrible. So many insanely bad players. I get it, it's the weekend, but it must have taken 20+ games to get that free mech for him.

Anyway, good luck.

I secured my five wins out of about 15 open drop matches. If I had dropped with trusted pilots it would have been much sooner. Too many open drops turn into dwankie A.D.D. Poster children fests who can't hold still for 5 min without breaking the firing line and getting killed in the 1st two Minutes. But sorry you missed out...the free bay was the prize I was after. And it was a really nice surprise to find that PGI had offered its members such a Kool promotion.
Thanks PGI you Rock!
