Perhaps it's time PGI allocates a dev one hour a week to work exclusively on the current state of weapon balance. Time to look at the stats, and modify the XML. Perhaps change the heat, damage or flight speed and spread of missiles. Something every patch.

Perhaps even use the test server for drastic changes, if they want.

Just something to flesh out less used weapons, and perhaps shift the meta every now and then.

How do you know they aren't? It's a multiplayer game. If they aren't gathering metrics and using them to tweak the balance of the game, that would be insane. We get minor balance tweaks every patch, but there's no reason to expect drastic changes if they're happy with how it is.

Flamers, LRMs, SRMs and hit detection, the superiority of FLD? Balance is far from good. There are a half dozen good weapons, then a couple others that can be used with effort. Hardly a well balanced wheel.

How long did it take them to replace the stock heat for PPCs, and how many months was the LPL NOT touched? They have a long way to go.
