The damage or loss of an assault mech can result in years of repairs and custom spare parts, not to mention the shame to the regiment and disgrace to your house, for losing such a key military asset. The enemy propaganda value from their gun cam footage of your houses best mech kissing dirt, is reason enough to grant this bonus.

As opposed to a medium mech that can be completely rebuilt within a week and be back on the battle line.

This bonus will help address the enamoured allure for taking Heavies and Assaults, as they become high value targets, as they should be.

Bad, biased poll is bad.

Damage is damage.

Yeah, let's give people an incentive to ignore the light and medium 'Mech shooting their team mates in the back, and instead award tunnel vision on the heavies and assaults.

That was sarcasm, btw.

I almost feel if you were to get a bonus for killing, it would be for killing a light. I don't know about you, but I struggle way more with killing a light than any other mech.

You already do get more points for damaging an assault mech. Assaults have more armor, internal structure, and components. By simply having more to damage you get more points by destroying the mech.

Much easier to kill assaults, why give extra for them of all classes? Nope.

Again, using another game I used to play as a base line, if you were in a low perk aircraft and you shot down/damaged a higher perk aircraft, you got more points. The alternate was if you were in a high perk aircraft and show down a low perk aircraft you got points, just fewer. Getting extra rewards for killing/damaging a bigger threat just makes sense tactically and in game terms.

That said, I think you should always get a baseline of points (C-Bills/XP) for damage and kills., but the bonus amount should vary based on the 'value' of the firing unit to the 'value' of the target.

By the way, if you're not killing the big threats first, you're doing it wrong.

Assaults reward you more already in one of two ways.

First, efficient kills get you more salvage (headshot that tricked-out Highlander and you get a ton for your team).

Second, inefficient kills get you more damage (more armor/internals/components to destroy, for more total rewards per mech).

Nothing else is needed in that regard.

What we really need are alternative objectives that actually pay competitively with damage, kills, and assists (for instance, a total rework of Conquest Capture Assist credits).
