I was cool with it till Paul said "They are in a good place" or whatever bull crap, then went on to talk about the Timberwolf to distract people.

Then I was like "Here comes another 4 months of pulse lasers not getting looked at".

sigh... ya.. i dunno. tbh.... I dont trust there announcements. Im hoping they redact that and go back to work on a few things still. But maybe that just plays back into the whole being "Really really bad at community communication thing"

I'll believe the announcements when I see it in game.

like op. idk, i still use srm on most all my builds, they work, kinda. but its all basically the same. spotty at best.
I never KNOW im gonna kill a mech or pop a section, Its all seemingly pot luck. Is the hit registering? how much armor do they really have left? internals.? its all mostly impossible to gauge accurately.
So i dont really alpha, i put xhairs on target and manage heat and fire away till something happens.

Say what you want about how weapons worked in mw4. At least i KNEW i was doing damage when the xhair was on target. EVERY time.
that to me if FAR more important that anything else.. period.

please read the following very carefully

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH SRMS

Is that simple enough for you? I run them on a ton of mechs, pull high damage and scare the shit out of people. I have taken down 3 assults with my commando with nothing by SRMs and 1 mlas. No they are not the stupid Instakill AC50 replacements that some people used to have (thats not a typo, Splat Cats were called that for a reason) but they are perfectly servicable weapons.

BTW I can't understand why people dis SRM2. If i have a choice of 2xSRM2 or 1xSRM4 I'll go the former every time because their cycle rate is 1 second faster and therefore their combined DPS is almost 30% higer for the same weight and slots..... just saying

And why don't you try reading? The devs have admitted the SRM hitreg is FUBAR, your opinion doesn't change that, nor does it change our results, which include having SRMs absorbed into nothing.

Its not perfect and they want to improve it but its not so bad as to make the weapons unusable or usless like some players make out. Its a low priority and should remain one. Too many people scream over minor issues its just sad that they cant enjoy all the really good parts of the games. If I listened tot them half my builds which I do really really well in wouldn't exist.

I'm afraid there are only a couple effective builds, which utilise lasers and frontloaded weapons for the most part, since you can' actually aim that damage.
If SRMs actually registered and were 2.5 per missile, 2.0 for streaks they might be able to compare, but they are simply ineffective in taking out targets. They can occasionally put out damage, but damage doesn't kill if you can't concentrate it.

That is actually one of the advantage of SRM 2 over 6's for example. close cone of fire and more concentrated damage. that said they do all make good critting weps for the same reason LBX10 do

....look into the previous posts. LB10, MG and SRMs are considerably worse at critting, since they can't one-shot components. The AC10+ and PPCs all hit the same crit slot, and will destroy it with any level of crit. MG comes second, due to simply hitting so many times with a small bonus.

LB10 and SRMs are some of the worst crit weapons.

Edit: (For those who don't know, Russ Bullock has already stated no changes/fixes to SRM hit registration will be made until AFTER CW is released. That means nine to twelve more months of how the game is now).

Disappointing response.

This seems largely due to component health being really unbalanced. We need values that actually make sense for what it is, not just letting people stuff 6 tons of ammo in their torso and largely be unconcerned because of how few weapons will destroy it in any worthwhile amount of time due to critical hits most likely being spread out considerably.

with ya on the other things but this I disagree on. Once they fix hit reg. They are fine and a premier brawling weapon. They don't need altering. Just hit reg. Fixes.

Yes to everything but splash damage, An armor piercing missile only penetrates what it hits directly. A missile designed to fragment causing area casualties is not capable of damaging heavy armor like on a mech (though it'd really obliterate the internals on a stripped section of armor)

I have SRMs on every one of my builds. I always use them in 12 mans. I have used them since the start of closed beta. It is the only weapon I always have (except on my YLW with no missile tubes). I can get top damage done in pugs pretty easy with pure SRMs, I'm usually pretty high up in damage in 12s with SRM+more builds (and get kills)....in various medium mechs not the SHawk.

They work fine.....as long as you know what not to do. (And yea SRM6s without Art are currently trash....so don't use them).

If it's a choice between 'fixing' SRMs and coding CW.....for god sake do CW.

The only thing they could use is the old spiral pattern back.
