Not a tournament of skill, rather of endurance.

Freakout over, thank you.
Good tourney, will be joining (even though I like my heavies ) Will use this to master my (newly acquired) Cents
Looking forward to more events like this in the future!
There is no sane reason that it should be your best matches of the ENTIRE weekend, leaving the no sleepers the opportunity to get 10 PERFECT matches.
GL if you attempt this.

- You have categories titled "Assault," Heavy," and "Light." Does this mean weight classes outside mediums are allowed?
- If we manage to not get in 10 matches does this have any negative effect/punishment?

If I run my Wolv...what would he be counted as (since not primarily listed)?

Well, that's fine. Let the guys who can roll for 50+ hours do it. If that's the point their lives have reached then hell, they probably deserve this win

Every class is represented as a whole, but individual Medium mechs are represented for themselves. BJs compete with other BJs, Bucket (Trebuchet) compete with other Buckets... so on and so forth. They do not "directly compete in battle" (although, you may be lucky/unfortunate if that happens), but those mechs compete on the scoreboard. The variant does not matter... it's that the chassis that gets the score.

You aren't punished. You simply won't win anything due to acquiring a low score (each match will generate a score).

It's a non-factor, unless PGI changes the rules and at the moment it is only accessible for Saber Pack owners, so the general public won't benefit.

There will be a lot more airstrike+arties in the tourneys. Don't complain to me about it... you probably didn't speak up about it before.
You have been warned.

I would hazard a guess the reasoning behind allowing the best of 10 versus the first 10 would be two fold:
1 - encourages players to play over the entire weekend
2 - alleviates the discouragement that happens when a few matches go south. If it was only the first 10, what reason would a person have to continue playing if their 2nd match is horrible and knocks em out of contention 30 minutes after the gates open?
I will say this, labeling it "weekend community challenge" or some such thing instead of "tournament" would be more fitting.

LOL
This is so correct. What better way to pad a score, or even get a lucky headshot kill then dropping strikes.
I opted into one of these just to see where I would rank, but ever since they changed the format to what it is right now, i havent bothered. The results get to be where you cant really use a rank to determine any type of "skill rank" because of the people with 100x more matches to average in.
Oh well, I still like that theya are doing these again. it usually means there are more players online. The challenges are my favorite though, free stuff for accomplishing the mini goal, makes it almost feel like there is something besides hitting launch to the game when they do those.

There have been debates on Mediums, with a Challenge like this, players can evaluate them and perhaps come up with comments.

Great points, but I wasn't offering first 10 as a supplement, simply that all weekend is too much. Maybe your 10 best out of a maximum of 50? Can even be your out of your best 50 of ANY mech, allowing the all weekender the chance to win in multiple mechs.
Not everyone has the time to play 150+ matches on the weekend to have a chance.

I mean it's not like you get screwed over if you have 5-11 friends online at any given time already anyway.

- Disconnect when they're launched into an unfavorable map
- Disconnect when the tide turns against their team
- Disconnect the moment they lose an appendage
- Use their teammates as meat shields
- Aggressively kill steal
