Well at things are right now you couldn't call it a tournament because you are fighting not against each other so basically one could see it as a leaderboard Challenge. It's free and you may chose not to opt in.
As for balancing and fairness to player who don't have enough time to participate or whatsoever. I was not going to say this because I did pretty well but..

The result of the tournament is a mixture of both skill and dedication. Everyone who made it up there invested at least a handfull hours playing.

The duration of the tournament (2 days) made sure that you had to go on even if you were already on top. So if you can't bring the dedication don't opt in but don't whine in the aftermath. If you brought enough dedication but lacked the luck/skills to get up, I hope you had fun and train and perform better next time.

p.s. When is the Winners Announcement and when do I get my MC? lol

YOU WILL GET YOUR MC WHEN THE COLOR SALE HAS ENDED.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. Yeah. Nice move, PGI. :-\

I couldn't play all of Saturday and still placed 4th in Griffins. I agree, you're going to have to bust ass (both with skills and endurance) in order to place, and its not a whoever plays the most matches wins. Also need quality matches.

P.S. When is the Winners Announcement and when do I get my MC?!

I have to disagree with Master Maniac... While it is true that an un-skilled player can play 1000 rounds and never hit the leader board, it is also true that a skilled player can play 1000 rounds and never get those couple of stellar, standout rounds that catapult the leaders to the top.
A good part of this game is the luck of the drop. If you have good guys on your team, they will be doing alot of damage=less meat on the bone for you. They may kill the other team so fast that there is just not enough time in the match to rack up a heafty score for any one player.
If you have a bad team, the other team may kill them so fast you again don't have time to rack up a good score. The best matches I've had were drawn out battles where everybody dies but 1 or 2 guys per side left to battle it out for the win. The more matches you play, the better the chances are you are going to get into one of these matches that have the potential to give you a tournament winning score. My best match ever was a 151 match score with 1182 damage, best I could muster in the 6 hours I played this weekend was a 121 match score with 1008 damage.
I just couldn't get one of those stellar rounds that I know I am capable of. Either my team died too quickly, or the other team died to quickly. I think they should limit it to 10 of 50 or something like that just to limit the lucky drop factor.Just my .02.

I think we agree more than you think. The point of "unlocking" the tournament from a silly, hard-and-fast 10 round limit is to *avoid* the "luck of the drop" scenarios that would screw over good players who just happen to get dropped with idiots, giving them more opportunities to do well. This also gives less skilled players the opportunity to push harder and challenge themselves to do better, rather than just get stomped in 10 matches and "lose" the tournament.

Without a proper ladder and a separate launch division, best of 10 is the way to go. Everyone who is complaining either couldn't step it up and be competitive, or is just sour that they lost. The vocal minority. Most are good sports.

EDIT: What I'm trying to say is, the unlimited number of matches until event end allows players to strive to be the best they can, which is what the tournament is really about to begin with - to see every player's best, and rank them accordingly.
