Now here's another what if scenario. this ones tricky to write out by the fact that this was triggered by my curiosity and a quote from someones forum signature more than anything. Now we most likely know about the likes of the urbie and that you can become a living legend if you successfully pilot one and survive.

So I'll post this and say what would the IS and clans classify you as if you are successful and survive consistently in a retro tech battlemech(read mech made with primitive technology).

I would like to see what you guys think. Because I have no idea in my head(yet) how everyone else in the bt universe would see them as. Sorry if this post is short, but I can't think of much else to say here.

they wouldnt think anything at all, in fact in one of the twilight of the clans novels, a mechwarrior named horse survived a smoke jaguar test in a MACKIE you cant get more primitive than that

They were pretty darn impressed with that as I recall, so it isn't that they wouldn't think anything of it....

I would think it depends largely on the opponents relative tech level. Versus other Primitives, he's just a better/luckier Mechwarrior. Versus Jihad-era (high)tech...he's likely one of the best and luckiest ever. This of course assumes a reasonably close amount of training/experience between opposing mechwarriors.

Of course, good PR means that a barely passable Mechwarrior could be viewed as being the best, while the best of the best could be a relative unknown.

Negatively impressed, but still impressed :)

Crusaders if I recall.....nothing in the world really positively impresses them :P

I dunno, they always seemed pretty impressed by the sound of their own voices.

Back to topic though, I think it'd be pretty impressive, but also definitely scorned. Imagine a special forces operative who refused to use modern weaponry, but stuck to an old black powder rifle.

"Who the **** is this *******?"

"Shut up dude, that's Jenkins. He's killed like fifty guys with that musket."

"Well good with it or not, I don't want him watching my back. That guy's gotta be a nut!"

And their own "scores"

That is a really good analogy BTW.

Like Jack Churchhill in WWII right? Cuz only real men march into a mechanized war with a longbow and Claymore.
