You need to post your King Crab art, not some wussy 40 tonner art.

That has been the case all summer of 2013, and up through the current Project Phoenix. The Saber package of the Wolverine and Griffin seem to be extras. Case in point, we got the Griffin as part of a hotfix for matchmaking. I think those two are not part of the lineup.
So, Locust, Shadow Hawk, Thunderbolt, and Battlemaster, and now we cycle back around for the Firestarter, and now a medium.
I am pretty sure it will be a smaller medium. The 50 and 55 ton mechs are pretty well covered for a while. Count them up: Hunchback, Trebuchet, Centurion, Kintaro, Shadow Hawk, Griffin, Wolverine. That is 6 mech types for the bigger end of the mediums, but we have just one 40 ton and one 45 ton mech.
So I have to guess the next medium is going to be an Assassin, Clint, Hermes, or Vulcan. Of that list I want the Assassin. It is the fastest medium after the Cicada, and it can jump, and it's hardpoints are different enough with laser arm, and missile torso hardpoints. A Vulcan would be just a bigger Firestarter with screwy hardpoints that won't balance well for weapon convergence. Remember that a tracking/turning shot with lasers at close range means arms and torso rarely both hit the enemy as you arms lead ahead and the torso lags behind. I would rather not have split weaponry like that, but at the same time I can work with it.
A Clint wouldn't be that interesting. You can run a similar build on a Cicada, but I have never seen that in recent times. A single AC-5 just doesn't cut it when a Large Laser can be used instead.
A Hermes would probably be too slow. Again, it is an Autocannon mech as well, and I prefer missiles and energy to offset the ballistics and energy armed Cicada.
So, my vote is for an Assassin.

The Mauler would be awesome for the fact that it's different than what we've got, and it looks really cool.
The Zeus is pretty much a big Orion; as much as I love it because of its art, the only way it would really be useful is if they actually implement different chassis having different cost/availability to different factions. If Steiner's couldn't get Orions because they are a Marik design they'd have to use the Zeus to fit the same role.

sadly I don't think the could put in the mauler, its hardpoints are ridiculously strong. But who knows. Would be sexy though.

Are they really that great? Ghost heat would PWN 4x autocannon 2s (although I'd love 4x MGs), and the other hardpoints are good and solid but not fantastic.

That to. I dunno though. I would LOVE to see it myself, but who knows. I do think it would be a good exercise to see just how strong JJ really are. If it actually doesn't do as well as the highlander and underperforms I think that will say a lot for how strong JJ are

And they need an XL to mount it's weapon loadout, with little room for the needed extra ammo and DHS of MWO left. Add to that a likely hitbox nightmare that will get any XL mech killed dead, and I think the Mauler will be like the Assault version of the Locust...... everyone thinks it's a great idea til they actually see how poor it functions in game.
So, since I have been saying that it will underwhelm in MWO all along, I am reserving my "I TOLD YOU SO" soapbox right now, (Of course, if it does work out, in MWO; I also will be ready to say I was wrong. I would actually prefer to be wrong, as viable mechs are more fun to add than DOA ones) just as I did about the Locust and Flea.

Well, they have now progressed both ways, Assault to Light, then for Phoenix and the Clan Packs, Light to Assault. So I really got no clue what the actual progression will be, but I doubt we see the Mauler next month, if Alex was only just now working on concept art. (Of course, Bryan never said WHEN he saw the arts).
And no, we can never have too many of the most common class of mechs in Battltech, aka, Mediums.

They would not put their artist to work if they were not adding it eventually. Besides you have the Daboku, 1R, and -C all as avalible variants.
Hero variants are technically made up in alot of cases and are hardly a concern.

For April I'm hoping for a Black Knight or a Grasshopper. For May I'd be happy with an Assassin (my preferred early ride in MW2:Mercs), though the Clint could be interesting. I'd love an Enfield but there aren't enough variants according to Sarna. I half expect the Panther in June (which would explain why PGI was so firm that the Panther would not be February's mech).
Guillotine would be a great Heavy.
Not because of load out, but because of look.
