Thank You Pgi For A New Single Player Event!

After just a couple of days where their words were "Wow, we are SURPRISED, 84% are solo players" They came out with a new Competition valid ONLY in Solo drops.
Always the same question, which will never get an answer:
Why this game let you drop in 2 TEAMS of 12, divided by 3 SubTEAMS of 4, but you have to drop SOLO to participate to a competition????
The word TEAM recurs "often" in this game, but the Designers are doing NOTHING to incentivate TEAM work.
And by the way, I need to express a special Thank as well, because in my Unit, DHB, today and probably for the full weekend, majority of ppl is dropping SOLO.
When offered to team up, they say "no thanks, I am 21 on the Ladder, I need to improve it, I m dropping SOLO".
Wow, how awesome is that? And hey, i don t blame the player, because many of us are competitive ppl, therefore if you put out a competition, they want to participate and possibly win, nothing wrong with that.
But thank you so much to the Designers of these competitions, you Royal M O R O N S, for being able to create this Awesome Experience.
I am personally 942 in the Ladder with I guess 154 damage and I ll try to do my best to keep it like that.
When I opted in for this thing, i didn t realize it was SOLO Only. I was thinking "wow, we can have some fun with Mediums for a change, instead to see always those assault around"...
Yeah, right.

With team tournaments gaming the system would be incredibly easy and pgi wont allocate their rediculously small resources towards them.
90% of the people on those leaderboards are names nobody has heard of, which means there is either an unknown class of incredibly skilled players that nobody has played games against at the high elo brackets, or the more obvious answer is top players are playing their low Elo alternate accounts to win by facing worse opponents.
For the love of god just look at their stupid calculation to determine score. Kills × 20 + Kill Assist × 10 + (Damage Done – Team Damage) ÷ 15 + Wins × 20 + Loss × 10 + Survive × 20 + Dead × 10
You have a built in MATCH SCORE, learn to @#$%ing use it.

Even if it is easy to game it.

Um... what team contests and tournaments? In the year and a half I've been playing this game, I don't think I've ever seen a PGI sponsored multiplayer event, only these tournaments for single players.

Yeah, right.
So.... you liked it?
Anyway, it's the simplest thing for them to do, takes almost no effort to run, the scoring is simple, once they get it right, etc. If they wanted to do teams, they'd need a whole setup where you sign up as a team, have to play with those 4 to X players, etc. I mean it's doable, but they are focusing on other stuff, and throwing this out there to string people along until private matches.

Just LOL. The fact that YOU haven't heard of them doesn't mean nobody did. I've met more than half of them at least once during this weekend. Oh, and I very often see those same guys pugging with same accounts and still doing great. There are some strange unknown names there but its like 1 out of 100.

I think I know about half. The heavy catagory is one I think the alt accounts are most obvious.
I know 9/10 players in the assault catagory, they are good to very good players.

oops wrong account.
No on a serious note, there are people in the leaderboards I haven't seen even once during the event, thats why i think they should disable the ELO system for the duration of the tournament if you are solo-dropping. If you look at the Heavy Boards Scores, the competition wasn't that fierce at all. I've made about 25 drops with an heavy and that's it.

This is a grind fest that is easily gamed...
Of the supposedly 1m userids we have only 5000 that bothered to opt in

I deliberately avoid dropping during these events and most certainly do not opt in.
And OP, I solo mostly so the challenge is more suited to me...yet it's a garbage time sink with warped game play.
No thanks.

Since the majority of players drop solo, it is quite reasonable PGI is concentrating on their experience, since it does not come at the expense of team players. Unlike a team tournament, which would work against single players, because everyone gets rolled by 2x4-groups due to the tournament.
Like all things, this is not either-or and PGI might do well to organize some 12 vs 12 fun in the future. To promote teamplay, they would do well if for some weekend, they would make some teamspeak servers where people who normally PUG, could join 12-man teams and experience that side of the game.
