Wait... does this mean if I want to play a light mech in skirmish mode I won't be the only one there?

How odd...

Probably not but you might get Match not found! :)

In that you will no longer randomly get dropped into games where your entire team consists of light mechs and you SWARM ALL OVER THE ENEMY and pwn them?

I'm loving it. I'm finding that the LRM spam has been reduced drastically giving much more opportunity to both teams to play a much better and fun game.

Though there were a few LRM boaters out today, not enough to put a damper on the game and they still provided adequate support to the team.

Not only that, but certain chassis werent saturated in matches. No team of full lights or a heavy amount of assaults, or dominant heavies (which is probably why the spam is reduced). I can;t see a downside as of yet so until then, great addition that should have been implemented AGES AGO!

3-3-3-3 is a good idea imo.

The only thing I don't like about 3s is how it so heavily favors certain mechs.

But what we have right now also does that. D:

Its true, no denying it.

But when I think about 3's vs now, if I drop in a match, and 2 of my teams assualts are awesomes or battlemasters, I think I am at a larger disadvantage than now, if I have an awesome & a battlemaster on my team, there may be 3-4 more assaults in there to pick up the slack instead of 1.

Really I would rather see some sort of MM rating for the chassis effectiveness taken into consideration.

What I find disturbing about 34 is illustrated in my post above, Each House had a different over all fighting strategy and TO&E make up. Now everyone will have the same army to try to win the universe with. Its sad.

But wouldn't that be overridden with Clan drops (ie. group drops)

Actually the main reason for doing this is because a "Lance" Setup was originally ment to contain one of each weight class.

Virtually no lances in TT are set up as L/M/H/A, as the mobility differences would easily scatter them and limit the group to the agility of it's slowest member.

On the other side, a lance wasn't always 4x same weight class- they were usually set up to be close in mobility- for example, a lance might be L/L/M/M, with the mediums being big-engine speedsters matched up with fast lights, or slower lights matched up with more conventional speed mediums.

Of course, good luck with PGI managing that sorta thing.

Add one more Mech to the appropriate wight class to form Stars Ghost Bears and Smoke Jaguars 1 more Assault, Jade Falcon one more heavy, and Wolf Either one more Heavy or one more Medium... Up to the Clan as a whole.

As for Inner Sphere drops... I don't think so.

While I think 3x4 is a good step in the right direction, I would think with all the metrics they apparently record which allows to "balance by numbers" I guess, that they would be able to make a Battle Value based system that which, along with ELO, would actually create balanced games that would also ride the tides of the changing metas.

Example : pre LRM buff, NARC had a BV of -5, LRM5 had a BV of +7. As more people took these items and actually did something productive with them after buff, NARC BV has risen to +5, and LRM5 is now at +10. These BV numbers could even apply to chassis, and variants, so that metalander squad fights metalander squad, and SHS Mediums also have a place in the game(I kid...SHS are useless).
