I've never had FPS problems with MWO previusly

Since the last patch, on Medium graphics settings, my game client drops from its typical in-game 60fps to 10fps momentarily, about every second or so.

I've used the repair tool, deleted the various user config files, rebooted the PC, ensured my drivers are up to date, etc. Nothing has fixed the issue.

EDIT: just dropped my graphic settings to Low. The same period stutter occurs.

I don't have a solution, but I am experiencing the same problem. I'm looking at adjusting the "targetfps" attribute in the user.cfg file to see if that does anything.

Oddly enough, regardless of resolution or detail settings, I have this problem and also the same FPS and yet nothing, neither the CPU nor the GPUs, are maxed.

Same here. I have somewhat top-of-the-notch hardware, and still FPS collapses from 5x -> 1x immediatelly when something happens on screen. No matter if I use DX9 or DX11, always the same thing.
How the hell can this game be so hard to run even on highend gaming rig?

I have had the same problem on a lot of maps played and testing ground.
In testing ground glitching in FPS stops after I run the whole map. Wonder if it's just DX11 loading up textures/graphics?

I'm now running on the lowest settings and DX9 (despite having a <1 year old highish performance game PC and video card) yet the periodic sudden drop of frame rate continues to occur.

It's as if a buffer needs to be cleared, or there's a malformed instruction in the processing queue.

In case it helps: I was suffering consistent CTDs at the point where the pilot animation concluded, until I deleted my systemoveride and user config files. But the stuttering persists.

Suffering stutters as well, sincce latest patch and using DX11 (DX9 had them as well, but not so very brutal) .
Im accounting it mostly on being CryEngine, which always had and always will have its very unique "quirks" in every iteration and was/is mostly known for killing PCs without a reason .

Most notable drops in FPS are caused by :
-using Adv.Zoom with LL´s when being close to overheating (smoke emitter?)
-many LRM´s generating lots of smoke nearby
-looking at enemies direction without seeing the mechs themselves
-rapidly swerving torsoes when close combat fighting
-some randomly occuring hiccup-kind of thing that just pops in and fades (mostly at the inappropriate time)

Oh FYI :
i5-3570K 4,2Ghz
8GB 1600MHz Ram
Asus DC2 GTX580 (running at 1.1 V instead of 1.038 because of instabilities under DX11)
Asus P8Z77-V Mainboard
BenQ XL2420T 1920x1080 120Hz
OCZ ModXStreamPro 600W PSU

Should run my quite low settings (only texturing, shading & object detail at very high, rest is low/off) at least with a nice 50-ish fps with dips maybe into the 30´ies, but not as bad as it does now (45 FPS when not much around/action, dips to near standstill in times).

same, the stuttering is worse in DX11, but still present in DX9

This stuttering happen even when i'm just moving around with nobody even shooting yet.

I think you're on to something with this. Coupled with the cache errors OP was getting, I really think this has something to do with it.

Like all of you, I was getting weird FPS drops/stutters with the DX11 patch, went back to DX9 where the experience was a little better. But with an i5-2500k at 4.6-5 GHz and an R9 290 that's watercooled, I shouldn't be having FPS drops at all (was getting ~90 with Very High settings @ 1920x1200), so the stuttering has been irking me a bit.

Loaded up the testing grounds just now, same stuttering. However, running all the way around the map, looking in every direction, on the second "lap" the FPS was much more consistent. Still a couple hiccups here and there, but no drops to 20FPS like before. Very smooth. I'd say give it a try - since DX11 is a new rendering path, I suppose it makes sense to have to cache everything again on new maps.

Try running around each map a few times, making sure to look in every direction to "load" textures/shaders/etc. See what happens on the second lap.

Following on from my post I thought I would add that I am running game at the moment at Medium settings under DX 11.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
AMD Phenom™ x4 850 Processor (4 CPU) 3.3ghz
8GB Ram
NVida Geforce GTX560
1680x1050 59Hz

Not high spec PC but seems to run most things well. Game runs at 60 to 70 fps, with glitches dropping to 30.
But with this setup glitching on testing ground does stop after while. And played 2 conquest matches on HPG MANIFOLD and FOREST COLONY seem to play ok.

Good God that's unplayable at that level, what OS are you running?

Same here, sudden fps-drops now and then. Had no problems before patch, except for one annoying warp 10-15 seconds into every match.
