Yet More Business as Usual

That is the beauty of the capitalism - you can charge anything as long as there is a greater fool out there willing to pay you for it....
You really can't complain about prices... just buy or don't buy....
Sheesh, if there is one thing I can't stand more than a white knight - it's a spacepoor...

I thought we had a "moment"?
So polite, I appreciate the gesture.
But we both know you have no time for me. Too many other friends taking up your time. I couldn't possibly take you away from your legion, they won't forget you.
Give me a call when you get a little better at what you try to do, maybe we can revisit?
Enjoy

Now the whole "Pay Per Use" thing they mentioned is probably going to be a deal breaker for me.
Pay Per Use because they know community warfare will suck... so when committed/skilled players try to run our own leagues they can **** us over again.

I'm arguing for the consumer, but it's nice to know you are more about PGIs coffers then the product you pay for.
And I'm arguing from both points of views because both needs to be happy for this to work. If only the players are happy, the company can't run. It's about finding that balance.

Moving along IS speaking up. It is of course also giving up, so there is a point to what you are doing. And what I'm doing. But if I had as much rage built up about a game as you, I would have been long gone. Some things can't be saved.
I'm here because I only have few complaints that might still be corrected if I speak up.

I know. I was simply listing the things I speak up against when it happens. But none of that is present here.
Ordellus, on 04 March 2014 - 02:57 PM, said:
The expenses are not minimal, the potential revenue is. So the fact that they are spending time on this feature is because they want to make the players happy, not because they want more money, 'cause the money ain't there.
But for the company to be happy too, they need their expenses covered. This will do that, and not much more.

There appears to be exactly zero truth in your post.
Are you sure you're not trolling for laughs?
Well I'm getting a laugh out of this, but no. And if there is nothing true about my post why even comment?
You apparently think the prices and money whoring are just fine right?

Just to let you know that your ranting is wasted I guess?
Cause the game is F2P, everyone knows that. Gold skin mechs are selling at $500- so you don't have an argument that they are over priced. Maybe they're overpriced for you but maybe PGI doesn't have you in its"market" sights.
So idk why in the face of the facts you are so angry?

Every time I think this company has reached a new low, they out-do themselves.
They have an optional subscription so that they can support the extra hardware its going to take to implement private matches...
They have also stated that they will have to do this when they first mentioned private matches some time ago. I don't see a problem here.
You also only need 2 out of 24 players that have premium to launch into a private match. If your corp is really that cash strapped, perhaps you can take turns having one or two members having premium time.
Or another strategy would be to only by a days worth of premium time on match days.

Combat Arms for example, the "Elite Moderator" thing was something you had to pay for to have control over not only matches (anyone could do that) but to instantly kick anyone you suspect is hacking rather than the vote system. Of course, votes could be made in favor or against your decision. Questionable moderators were yellow. Rage-kick prone ones marked red.
"Elite Moderator" becomes a free thing at the rank of Major. So they came up with Super Elite Moderator; a second weapon choice/restriction option comes with it.
MWO doesn't yield to that sort of thing, so the normal premium time (which isn't anywhere near as valuable as it used to be) has tacked this in to give it some more value.
The private matches give you NO income anyway. So how likely are you to use the free let alone the paid benefits? Private matches in general I think is for the youtubers, video makers, and 12 vs 12 crowd.

If it says anything I've spent more than 700 dollars on this game, own all but 2 heroes and paid full price for most of them, have 102 mech bays, founders, overlord package, etc. and am less than pleased with the game and its developers, but I also know this is standard free to play fare.
does it cost premium time to use these features or do we just have to have it active?

Active for the player starting the "premium" private match. All you need it for is fewer than 24 players total and to set your own rules.

They are a company. They have to show revenue. Revenue is money. You have money. They need it.
What did you expect?

I only use it when it comes with a package. Right now I'm sitting on 14 days that I haven't activated. But then again I own every hero mech except Jester and Oxide, the Founders mechs and the Phoenix mechs, so I got a crapload of mechs that can get me a 30% bonus whenever I need money and I can chain-grind if I need it fast, so premium doesn't mean jack to me. I can easily make around 220,000 to 270,000 cbills per match without it using solid mechs.
That becomes a bit dodgy if I'm using the AC/5 Locust or the Death's Knell, then it's closer to 120,000 to 190,000 depending on how good the match is going.

i own all heroes but the fang...wish i could trade in the pretty baby, golden boy and maybe the deaths knell, with the founders and phoenix/sabre(white whale alert) it is nice seeing how fast we can earn cbills and it is tediously slow waiting for my brother in-law to grind his way for a simple mech lol

Some mechs do rather well.to make money without any help. Example, LRM Commando. Small, hard to hit at high speed, pepper enemies with LRMs and mark with tag.
Any mech with streaks, tack on tag for extra bonuses; even easier with an LRM crew too or a full streak crew. You get both a spot and a tag bonus for every different player that hits your target with a streak or LRM. You get it again if they hit with both streaks and LRMs. Not to mention the savior kills payouts when your designated tank is below 50% health. Even more if more of you are low health.
Thinking about it, combining an AC/2 or AC/5 with an LB-10x on a Victor, Highlander, Atlas, or pretty much any mech can really increase earnings quite a bit with streaks on the side. Streaks and the LB find weak spots in armor. Cannon can then punch through it. Do this for any limb that appears weak and then go for the kill, wash rinse repeat after isolating enemies one by one. Easy way to score a thousand damage and a good payout. Here's one such example. And another using Atlases. The first Atlas in that video is a regular Atlas D, followed by the Founders after (I got fried easily in the second match after having to push through 3 AC/20 Miseries back to back but they all died).

1st: How is it different than anything else in this game? You are bent out of shape because you have to have activated premium time (something that benefits you in more ways than one) in order to set up a premium match which gives you more control over how the game is played. Assuming that you could set drop sizes, and maps for free, how often would you use this ability since it PROVDES ABSOLUTELY NO BENEFIT IN GAME WHATSOEVER????? The ability to change maps and what not DOES NOT PROVIDE XP OR CBILLS TO PREVENT FARMING. So YOU GET NOTHING OUT OF IT. Why are you complaining about something that will most likely only be used for things like community tournaments? And the only people who have to have premium time are the tournament organizers. theoretically, TWO people with premium time could run a tournament however they wanted to with as many people as they wanted to. So you mean to tell me that NONE of the people you play with have any premium time activated? I find that hard to believe.
2nd: a Free to pay business model requires that there are people out there that pay for things so that the rest of the masses can play for free. (in this example I will use "me" as a payer and "you" as someone who doesn't pay...not that I am using myself as an example) Those of us that pay get to use you, the person who doesn't as game content. In essence its like a robot version of The Running Man. I get to hunt you down and kill you for fun, or get destroyed by you for fun. You are my AI. So, my point being this: if you don't want to pay for it, the best course of action you can take is LEAVE. Don't QQ about it on the forums, just leave. If the game has no content, then the people who pay, will stop paying and the game will fail. /thread

In my opinion, the only shaft free-riding players get in this game is in the Mech bay department...
