lol, LPLs are much better than LLs on a brawler.

Yeah but PPCs are much better than both. And with an AC/20 and streaks to back them up youre fine under 90m.

Now you aren't solely looking at LPLs or PPCs anymore, it's a completely different situation with other weapons.

But how a weapon synergizes with other weapons is a major part of what makes a weapon good. You cant ignore synergies when comparing two weapons. And PPCs synergize way better with ballistics than other energy weapons.

Gauss for example looks like a GREAT weapon until you realize it has very poor synergies with other weapons. And that lack of synergy makes gauss largely useless outside of dual gauss builds.

Sure, good as far as that particular build; it is highly situation specific. A mech without Ballistic hardpoints would not have that weapon synergy.

Exactly what is your issue? Is it with the LPL not registering or with the Firestarter being invulnerable?

my problem is i am running ERLL and LPL on the same build, and i suspect the ERLL is doing all the damage it needs to do to light mechs, i see their hitbox flash when i hit them with it.

not so with LPL, since i guess there are less instants when the LPL is doing contact its a god awful weapon to shoot light mechs with, this is what i wanted looked at.
if firestarters are also not taking dmg from ERLL then i'm wrong but for the love of god fix those hitboxes

and i do mean at 200-300 m range

What's your ping, and have you sent in a support ticket to the support team yet?

The LPL is inferior to the PPC for 2 reasons:

1 - PPCs do all damage in one instant hit, LPLs do their damage over 0.60s.

2 - PPCs have a much higher range.

The LPL is superior to the PPC in several ways:

1 - More damage per shot and per second.

2 - Lower heat per shot and per second.

3 - Hitscan.

4 - No minimum range.

5 - 1 critical slot smaller.

Is it worth trading damage for range? If so, take a PPC. Are you often fighting close-in? If so, take a LPL. Don't simply say one is better than the other; use whichever is appropriate for the build.

my ping is 119. and what would the support ticket do? this happens often when i shoot light mechs with LPL, not just once so i can report it as a bug...

again, since the weapons only register when they feel like it - the large laser has a lot more chances of being registered on a light mech since it does a continuous stream of dmg, every milisecond.
the large pulse hits one milisecond yes the other no, because it's pulsing. and because of this hit registration is actually worse than on large lasers, i don't think this should be the case because of poor programming.

both weapons hit the atlas well because they aren't moving or moving slowly they register. but not so with spider, commando, firestarter, raven, jenner.... FIX PLZ

ok just checked again, 3 LPL (i ignored ghost heat) isn't doing ANYWHERE near 30 dmg. (it should to 31.5)

i picked my shots and shot all 3 at once... without missing a beat, on a flying (on apex, barely even moving) shadowhawk.

it didn't do JACK. after 3 triple LPL shots to the ct, his armor was slightly orange.... i shot a kintaro the very same way, at close quarter range, 3 times with triple LPL (thats over 90 dmg) and then twice with srm4 and a medlas or 2.
kintaro doesn't have that kind of armor... and he was just dandy! that's way over 100 dmg!!!!!! maybe i should be making a ticket because this is LUDICROUS

and here's the fun part, i go to testing grounds, shoot 3lpl twice at a jenner and it explodes. so the damage works OK in the testing grounds, but i routinely shoot jenners with 3LPL ingame and you know what happens???!?! ZILCH!!!!
