Highlanders, victors and 3Ds...Jumpjets, PPCs and autocanons. you may as well remove every other weapon and chassis from the game..this is where your game is going..enjoy

And you dont seem willing to fix it...MW4 anyone?

This is where the game has been for a very long time. The only thing that changes is which autocannon is being used. Also artillery spam.

If PGI had a problem with it they would have fixed it by now. Sadly, it seems they do not.

Or, they do have a problem with it but don't know how to fix it. Not sure which is worse...

Did you see this thread, pinned right to the top of this sub-forum, before you posted?

It would have told you, that they are currently looking at exactly that for a nerf.

To be fair, that thread title has no mention of assault mechs or poptarting. It also doesn't address the issue of pinpoint damage, which is the underlying issue here.

no i havent...and you cant expect everyone to check every pinned post before they post.. and now that i have seen that post i can tell you it makes no difference. so what if they nerf the highlander? what change the hitboxes? the chassis it self isnt the problem.

and you know what i didnt post this to flame PGI. i still find enjoyment in the game, i still support them, i still play and i still pay when i can afford it. But you cant tell me that you are not dissappointed when watching that video.

some say its the poptarter - other says its the light mech with an array of MLAS...

and i still have the feeling that nerfing anything didn't do any good - it just changes the meta from "optimum variant A" to "optimum variant B"

Ok - maybe its because I'm at the very end of the ELO Rating - but 50% of my games are funny - challenging and my Highlander goes down in flames ... oh wait they want to nerf my Highlander? For what? I don't pop tart....i only use the JJs for better mobility in heavy terrain and to DFA...(that does little to no damage)

so to cry for a nerf of the Highlander will hit me right?

So why are pop tarter so successfull?
  • pinpoint weapons
  • short woe
  • to effective jump jets
so - poptarting can be reduced by: reducing the climb rate for jump jets (for example a second burn of a single Jump Jet is enough to lift a Mech 2m in height and throws him 4m forward)

So 3 Jump Jets on a Highlander with 3seconds of burn - will allow him to climb for 18m...but also thrust him 90m forward.
With a full recharge of 10seconds... you reduce the frequency of jumps eighter.

Or you split the JJ capability by 2: 9m climb and 45m trust

You say this like you cannot win without those Mechs! I don't use the above Mechs, not cause I don't like 'em but because I get better results in other rides.

What I find is I get hit by a poptart. This takes my side or core armor off. Then from there on I will be targeted at this point to I die.I die with most my armor even if i twist and turn. The only way I have found to stop this is with jj mechs. So in the end up running poptart type mechs to fight poptarts.

I have a bunch of early MWO days videos, back then, it took a while to take down a mech. Even thought you knew "that Awesome is screwed" - it still took a while. Nowadays. it's turned into more "twitch shooter" than "thinking man's shooter". Armor should be increased (along with ammo count). But I'm a consumer, not one of the producers.

I'm sure it was fun for those involved but to watch that video this game has become rather [redacted]

If people stopped spending money on the game they would fix it real fast.

No, they won't. We've proved that in the past. Once their cashflow begins to dwindle, they start a new advertising campaign....offer free premium time...whatever. Gotta draw in the next crop of crosseyed, drooling idiots to spend a little cash on a bobblehead.

The focus, at least business-wise, isn't on the established players....most of us don't spend more than $15 a month, just to buy premium time. We're not cash cows for them....which is why they ignore us.

Maybe if they had a forum where you could PAY to have your ideas responded to.....hey, I bet they'd jump all over that one.

PGI/IGP (really can't tell for sure which company is leading the charge on issues) has shown time and again that they know what they want to do with the game and where they want it to go.

They just told us all something completely differnt and let us belive they were going to give us a great mechwarrior game that we would happily spend money on. Instead we got a game that is heading to be a Mechwarrior version of World of Tanks......

Not really. The whole community pledge to not spend money on the game until promises were met didnt start until the clan packs went on sale. And since we havent even unlocked the first social reward yet, id say its a good bet they arnt selling clan packs nearly as well as they sold phoenix.

actually i have to disagree with op. I am more than likely in the mid tier elo, and there it is varied mechs, loadouts etc. Not even remotely close to what mw4 was like<which wasnt terrible anyways>

like i said, mid tier elo. chock full of everything and might i add, many many great matches..

now if they could stabilize the post ui20 build so i dont ctd every 4th match after 6 months without a ctd previously. id be happy

PS> AND i go play, first match, 3,4 kills with firestarter, great match we up 10 to 8, closing in.. and..
<function call.. ctd.. >
ya know, if at least the stats could tell me what happened in the game after i ctd i wouldnt be quite so pissed.

Well after the Clan Packs, what have they got left? well support packs. Clanners get the Toads and the IS gets the RCT (Regimental Combat Teams) so AK47 for EVERYBODY>>>>..... err wrong game. Infantry and support vehicles for everyone. But what's after that? Aerospace fighters? Dropships? V-Tols? I doubt it. PVE Mission Packs? somehow I doubt that one as well. PGI only has a few kicks left at the cash cow before she stops giving enough Milk to feed the IGP mouths.

The only thing they can do it get CW done properly and out the door on time. Any more screw ups Delays and I know of several players who will simply walk away. The sad thing is most of these guys were pre-founder, closed beta by invite only play testers. you know, the guys who have supported the game from the start with a little bit of cash and soft spoken support for PGI.

The movie is weird. 2 poptarter teams poptart each other at a distance of around 300 meters. If the other side would have been 100% brawlers and they would have pushed, the poptarter with all their PPCs would have been crying because 1/3 of their weapon damage (ppc) is gone in close combat range.

In addition, the jester does 300 damage during the match. I'm not impressed by the dual PPC layout .

I play some poptarting mech by my self, e.g. the classical DS with 2 ppc and 2 AC5. In PUG matches poptarting is not as effective, because there is no coordinated alpha strike damage which is the real advantage of poptarting.

What exactly is your point? This is the way the game has been since last Spring. When the Highlander came out, everything changed. It was already moving in that direction with the Cataphract 3D.

Not really. The smart pop tarting team would have simply spread their firing line out and then focused targets. The pure brawling team would have died horribly.
