I always wanted to try out a balstic mech and I finally got a BJ-1. I modified it quite a bit, but kept the main guns (dual AC/2).
While testing in the Testing Grounds I noticed that the total firerate seems halved if I set it on Chain fire (both from feel and heat generation). So I made the test of ammo usage after 30 seconds of continous fire in Alpine Peaks (to avoid overheating getting into the Calcualtion):
Dual Fire: 184 of 300 Shoots left. 116 Shoots/30 seconds = 3.86/s.
Chain Fire: 239 of 300 Shoots left. 61 Shoots/30 seconsd = 2.03/s

The problemseems to be that Chain fire uses a fixed 0.5 second delay between fire orders to different guns of the chain.
The problem should get lineary worse the more AC/2 you put into one group (granted you run into heat generation problems with this gun pretty fast, due to high Right of Fire).

Workaround: Don't set weapongroups with AC/2 on Chainfire, unless you wanted linearry cut firerate (wich might actually be helpfull for this gun).

(I am assuming you are using both AC2's in the test.)

It's not chain fire making the fire rate different. with out chain fire you are firing 2 guns off at the same time wear as with chain fire you are firing one after another, thus cutting rounds per min. in half.

I'm at work so I can't test this my self (this pegs my interest) but try using on AC2 to get a base line fire rate for 30 sec. the math should show it at 58 rounds in 30 sec (116/2=58)

The fire rate for chain fired AC2s is the same as non chain fired AC2s.
